I like the strip of Seadek that the 2016 G series have running around the top of the Gunwale. Has anyone contacted Seadek about getting similar pieces made for 2013-2015 G series? I think the color may be slightly different, not sure about the dimensions. It would be nice to have a place to step when getting boards down or getting on and off the bow and not have to worry about slipping.

I like it too and have inquired about this for my G25. Seadek won't sell "Nautique" designed pieces directly to consumers. It has to be sold through Nautique and the dealer network. The rub is the dealers can't sell the 2016 pieces individually. Nautique will not provide to them individual pieces. You have to buy a whole kit with all the pieces. I don't remember the exact quote but it was well over $1000. I have asked both my local dealer and nautiqueparts. Same story from both of them.
Seadek will let you design DIY pieces. You can order from them a template kit which includes clear rolls of Mylar, a marker and instructions. You template the pieces that you want on the Mylar send it back and they create a CAD drawing. They will send you back template, you dry fit it to confirm it works and once you approve they produce the pieces. You pay a minimum price of somewhere around $400 which is for an entire sheet of 77x39 Seadek.
I am in the process of templating my G25. I have the gunwale pieces templated. I am also going to template some Yeti cooler tops and a few other things that I could slap Seadek on. I figure if I am paying for a 77x39 sheet, I might as well use as much of it as I can.
Regarding the color, there is no difference in 2016 grey titanium Seadek. The brown interior is different in the 2016s but if you do a DIY template you could get an exact match.Last edited by Bevostein; 12-11-2015, 09:16 AM.

Also if someone has already done a template of the G23 gunwales you could piggyback off their template without going to the trouble of designing it yourself. You would just need to be able to give Seadek the info about whose design it was or some info so they could look up the design

Bev - thanks for the info. Just ordered my template. FYI they will do a half sheet for about $200. Not sure you will be able to cover everything you need with that but for just the 4 gunwale pieces I think it should work. I am sure once I get the templte in the boat I will find some other things I want covered so I may be in for a whole sheet anyway....

Thanks, I didn't know about the half sheets. I will check and see if mine will make it. Couple other thing to keep in mind is that since you are DIY you can customized it. I am thinking about getting G25 or Super Air Nautique etched in my gunwale pieces. Also I am thinking about making a small step piece to attach to the vinyl on my back seat where everyone steps getting in the boat through the walkway. Again the 2016s have this piece. The Seadek is so sticky I think it will adhere to the vinyl just fine

Yeah I like that idea, just not sure if I want to stick it to vinyl. I always throw a towel down there, but if you could screw a hard plastic piece to the seat then put the seadek on that I think it would be a winner. Kind of like how guys modify the passthru vinyl to vent for a subwoofer. Have to see how that seatback piece attaches and if it could be easily removed, modified and replaced.

I'd be careful with sticking the seadek to the vinyl. It will prob stick just fine, but by doing so it will put extra stretch/stress on the surrounding vinyl around the step. the vinyl has a certain stretch factor to it...by sticking the seadek straight to the vinyl, the vinyl under the pad will be fixed and not stretch, therefore adding extra stretch to the surrounding vinyl every time somebody steps on it. Just an opinion to consider before doing so. On the 2016, that step isn't placed directly on the vinyl. The seat was redesigned around it.
Now as far as that step pad...you will have to do the design your own method stated above. Or if you want to go a slightly cheaper route...Roswell makes a smaller step pad to match the Nautique decking...it just says "Roswell" on it. Although I'd doubt you will find the teak color...but the titanium grey is pretty easy to find. You can get them for about $18 at places such as boardco.com....http://www.boardco.com/boat-accessories
Just an option for ya

Well I see they are consistent with their response. I contacted Nautique parts right after the 2016 release about the gunwale pieces. The said the brown was a different color. Also that Nautique had not plans in offering them in the 2015 and earlier color.
I figured Seadek would sell them but I guess not. I had not taken the time to contact them yet.
Now its time for me to think about what else I can put Seadek on to justify that price.

I called them about doing a custom piece for my G23 and I was basicaly told to talk to the hand once they found out I had a Nautique. They pretty much refused to talk to me at all when it comes to anything Seadek and Nautique. I called later and told them it was for something else and they were all ears. I think it is ridiculous, but glad to hear that they have changed their tune. Report back if they refuse once they see you want to put 'Nautique' or 'G23' on it.

Update: For those interested in Seadek for their gunwales on pre2016 Gs call your dealer. I spoke to my dealer today and they are now allowing those strips to be ordered separately.

No, I didn't. I spoke to the service manager about scheduling my summerization and he remembered I had called about it. He mentioned it was now available and put me down for a set when they summerize

For what it is worth..... I used gatorstep for the parts I had to do in my 2016 G. I am not sure how the gatorstep brown compares to the 2015 SeaDek brown, but it is a little bit darker than the 2016 SeaDek brown in my boat. That said, you can't tell one bit, unless you put them next to each other. I don't think you would notice any difference up on the gunwales. And if I remember right, I actually believe the 2015 color is closer to the gatorstep color.
The main reason I suggest this, is because gatorstep is a 1000x better company to deal with. When I did my custom SeaDek for my X23 last year, it was a 5 month long, VERY aggravating process, with 0% customer support. My custom pieces for my 2016 G23 was a 2 week, very pleasant, process with gatorstep. After my experience, I would only use gatorstep again...... Even if they only sold purple nonslip. I wouldn't care.
