2012 Sport Nautique 200 used in Salt water

    Hi,

Im looking at a 2012 Sport nautique 200 here in NZ with approx 280 hours on the clock. The boat is not a coastal edition and has been used approx 1/2 its life in the salt water. The dealer has had to put new speakers on the tower and a new steering cable. Has anyone had experience with a non coastal boat in the salt water? Is it worth looking at or avoid? NZ has very few Nautiques floating around so we are limited with second hand options.

    Cheers

    Nick

It all depends on if it was thoroughly flushed after each salt water usage. Is it a 343 or 6.0 engine? At least a 6.0 has a closed cooling system, which would help mitigate salt damage. It's probably worth looking at, but the price should certainly reflect the salt usage.

Like above... Depends on previous owner. I have seen salt boats maintained better than fresh water boats, and had one myself a long time ago. That said, Salt can get into everything, so check it over good...
