Looking for Opinions

I am considering a new 200. Is there any difference between the open bow and closed bow? Are the wakes the same? How about the weight? Does one weight more than the other? Seems to me that that the closed bow would be a much stronger boat. What do you think? Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

They are both the same weight (2,850). Maybe ClemsonDave can comment on how they both ski.

I've skied both, no difference. The boats were designed to have zero performance difference. There was a video with Andy Mapple (rip) talking about that very thing. The only thing I can say is that my windshield for the walk thru can creak when I hit big waves. Oh and it fills with water when you take a wave over the bow.

They ski identical. Qstufflebeam is absolutely correct that it is EASY to take water over the open bow. If you're thinking resale, the open bow is probably the better path. The costs do add up a little too, as you need to buy the jump seat and air dam. I guess you don't HAVE to, but it would be crazy not to. The observer seat wouldn't be big enough for more than one person comfortably.

I agree with above. And from what I've gathered, water over the bow is the only reason they still do the closed bow options! I'd say if you're more going to use the boat just to take out to hit some runs, then return back to the dock or trailer, then go with the closed bow. But if you think you'll be spending the day out on the lake with a few friends, then definitely open bow for that little extra space!
