    Lift for 2016 G23?

    Looking at getting a 16 G23 in the next 6-12 months and swapping out my lift is a big portion of it. I have looked at the following lifts thus far:
    * Floe 8k
    * Shorestation 7k

    Both would have either 26 or 30 foot canopies. Any thoughts on either of those lifts? Is there another brand that I am missing for these big beefy boats?

    Total weight with extras on a g23 could easily push 7 to 8 thousand pounds I would go with something that would give me at least 20% above to be on safe side... just my 2 cents...

      I'd suggest a lift rated for 10K. It's piece of mind and you will not be pushing the limits. I installed one two years with dual motors and a remote and am very happy with it.

        I'd recommend considering a Sunstream hydraulic lift. I went with a 10k lift, as it allows me to keep my extra ballast full in my G23 (i drain factory though), saving a lot of time. It raises and lowers 9200 lbs with no problem.

          IronJ - Do you take that sun stream out every year or leave it in the water? I need one that is removable every winter as you know how these winters are!

            Keep in mind that the difference between a 6, 8, or 10K lift can some times be quite minimal in terms of materials used. Before shelling out the money for a 10K lift, make sure to compare the specks between different sizes, particularly cradle thickness and any hydraulic or cable sizes. Also, look at the current draw for each set up to make sure you have the required amps at your dock. My G hangs on a 6K lift with beefier cables. No issues.

              I take it out each year, and have to traverse a 3 foot high rock shore line. I float it to shore (put some blue 55 gallon drums under it), and then pull it out with a vehicle...sliding it on some 12' long 2x10's.

              It's not light, that's for sure.

                I use a shore station 6k under my G for 2 years now and have no issues. They are great lifts. That 7 should work just fine for you.

                  Keep in mind that your lift may not be your limiting factor - make sure your boat house is structurally sound enough to hang that size of a boat - neighbor bought an 18k lift to put a very large express cruiser on - but he did that on single 12" poles... this ended very poorly for him...

                    Have only owned Shore Stations and they make a very good lift, Floe's are also very nice but can be pricier.
                    There are quite a few variations out there in terms of screw drive vs winch or hydraulic, options for wheels and pads that can retract, 12 or 24v or shore power.
                    If you will be using a service to get the lift in-out each year don't bother with the wheels or retractable pads.
                    If speed is important look at hydraulic or 24v or Shore power motors, if using shore power be sure the feed is GFI protected
                    If you plan to bring the lift in-out yourself look at the weight, pad size (larger bent edges = better) and wheel options. Floe has feet that raise/lower via a screw drive and plastic wheels as an option, making them super easy to get in-out. If you have a seawall like ironJ mentioned, they create a challenge for any lift removal, particularly heavier ones

                          I have a Hewitt 8k hydraulic lift. I have been very happy with it. I use wheels to pull it until on shore every winter.
