2014 230 wake boarding wake at slow speed??

Hi to everyone and thanks in advance,
I am from Australia where Malibu has the lions share of the wake boat market!! We are coming from a VTX 2013 malibu and looking at buying a 2014 230 Nautique, a big step up.
What we are wanting to know is how the 2014 230 wake behaves at around the 17mph? We have a seven year old girl that is competent but not ready to go to quick, and a couple of boys ready to go to the next level, love the 210 but it is to small with growing kids and a few extra mates!
Any info on the wake at low speeds greatly appreciated.
    Love the Nautiques! love em.

All the best for the new year, and thanks again.

If you can afford it go for a G. You can check the G21 that has a lot of room for people and storage. You can accommodate 6-9 adults looking backwards plus driver . You can wake at any speed. I have taught my 4, 5 & 6 year old nephews and I started as slow as 13mph.
Before I had a 220 and the old hulls demand a minimum of 20mph

The G23 wake is clean at 19 mph but below that you start to get a lot of wash in the wake (which I guess this is really only a problem when you start jumping.) The wake is also quite wide.

I've spent a lot of time behind a VLX and I've never been behind a boat with a better wake at speeds around 16-18 mph. I have no experience with the 230 though.

Coming from the Bu you are going to be hard pressed to come close to that low speed wake offered by their boats. The best line in the Naitique boats for lower sped wakes is either the 210 or the G series. Both will beat out a 230 on the low speed end. The G will also beat it out on the upper caliber end and room.

The 230 isn't any worse or any more intimidating than your average wakeboat at slow speeds, but the above are just better.

I'd agree with the other comments. I've not been in a VTX, but even the larger LSV does a much better job than the 230 at keeping a clean wake at low speeds. On our 230 we can get a clean wake for beginners at around 20.5 mph with ballast drained out. Any slower and it will start to wash out on one side or the other. Fully loaded with people and ballast you need at least 22 mph and I ride at 23.7 for a nice firm wake (and I prefer that wake by a large margin to the malibu.)

            Riversdale,

Also from Oz, found this forum awesome plenty of opinions and discussions on here helped me a tonne, making sure I was doing the right thing before I ordered my boat.

I am not experienced by any means, my 230 is my first boat like this before and I opted for a 230 over a G21 or G23 purely because I wanted to go custom order and wasn't prepared to stretch financially to the G series at the time. The boats 6 weeks old with 70 hours on it already and have already started thinking about a G23 for next summer! (Hopefully the dollar recovers a bit by then!)

A whole heap of people we have had behind the boat so far have been very much beginners (Including my brother in the two pictures below) so we have spent a fair bit of time at below ideal wakeboard speeds.

Below there was only myself and my partner in the boat and a little in the belly and port tanks to level things out, we were at 18.5mph in both images.
Agree that as soon as more weight or extra people on board things stay pretty washed out below 20mph though.

With regards to a 210 vs 230 were super happy with opting the 230 over the 210 for the extra room and size and the surf wave is spectacular!

Hey JV92, I'm actually demoing a 14 230 tomorrow here in Melbourne. Would love to know your thoughts on your boat. Is it true the wake at slow speeds is messy and no good? I've got 11 and 13 year olds and they aren't waking very fast.
Also, how s the surf wave? Have you upgraded the ballast system or just running with the wake package
Any help you can give me is awesome?
              Scotty
