No doubt there are some good deals to be had. Especially with the Canadian exchange rate. I suppose in the end I don't even really want to spend 80K anymore. The local MB dealer is one heck of a guy. Just one of the rare guys in the boating industry that is knowledgeable, honest, friendly, accessible and just loves boats. I have been wanting to be a customer of his for a while now.

The MB came up for sale and it just worked.
    1)super clean
    2)low hours
3)engine upgrade with semi closed cooling
    4)excellent sound system
    5)mackin surf wave
6)all the options I want like heater, heated seats, surf lights, LEDs, etc

It seems like not everyone likes them but I happen to love the fit and finish of the MB.

Thanks for all the help guys. Looks like a nautique just wasn't in the cards for me.

The only thing that is a step up is the surf wave. The surf wave on this things blows away the X-30 and pretty much every other boat out there. It is truly insane.

As for fit and finish, motor, and pretty much everything else it is not as nice as the X-30.

So.....it has everything I need for 1/3 of the cost.

Doc glad your happy with boat and in the end it's just a material thing anyway. We all get way to worked up over them! Guessing you might be talked about The Edge? I so wanted to buy a boat from Zach also! Had a deal all worked and was about to give deposit for order and I just couldn't do it! Same thing the thought of basically giving my perfectly good boat and $28k more just wasn't registering in my rational side so I backed out.

DocPhil, congrats on the new boat, too bad you decided against a G...I've ridden (or should say surfed) behind a MB23 w/some extra ballast and the surf wake was very good, are you saying it's better than your X30 with Gen2? Just curious...

Nordicron, exactly man. We get waaaayyyy too worked up about these things. It is not Zach but I do know Zach. Believe it or not, Jeff Nichols (the other michigan dealer) is probably even cooler than Zach is. MB has an insanely soild dealer base in Michigan with these two guys running the show. Two class acts.

Miljack, I don't think "some extra ballast" does it justice. This boat is running 3000 pounds factory ballast. It has 1500 extra enzo sac port side and 1000 lb starboard. Plus a 650 in the bow. ALL HIDDEN. Port side formula is fill everything. Then drain factory starboard hard tank. I have seen a 285 lb man surf this at 11.4 mph. The wave is INSANE.

And yes, wAAAAAY better than the X-30

I've gotten several PMs from people on this forum who are feeling the same thing I am. Tired of the price gouging going on out there. The industry is at risk of pushing away its best and most loyal customers with these constant price increases.

I won't be the last person to say forget it and buy a cheaper used boat and be perfectly happy with it

Its only a matter of time, for sure. Hopefully the laws of price and demand still work when demand begins to lessen.

Think it will be difficult for you to go back to listing your boat? Most people suggest that a listed boat produces a better wave, it just makes it more of a challenge to drive, and is harder to switch sides (obviously!).

That is definitely one concern I had. Especially my wife driving a listed boat. According to the owner of this boat (talked with him for an hour yesterday), the MB has tremendous freeboard so even when fully listed, it still sits out of the water a great deal.

His wife is (according to him) a terrible boat driver and she does fine. My wife is actually pretty solid so I'm not too worried.

And if the surf wave I get lives up to the hype I will tolerate it.

Plus, if I get tired of listing, I can just install GSA (go surf assist), which comes on new MBs from the factory

                              Doc--

So glad to see how the boat works out for you. I just went to the boat show in Atlanta two weeks ago. After walking out of there I said to myself I do not think I'll ever buy a new boat again. $180K for a Malibu M235......did not even ask Nautique how much the new G23 was. I love my boat and will likely keep it for many years. The price of boats insane. Yeah, I justified it twice but those days are likely to be over for some time.

I bet the MB will be worth the same 12 months from now IF you even decided to sell it. Not saying you will, but it's likely to be a zero depreciation cost purchase for you. As prices rise used boats maintain pretty good after the first few years.

I love your perspective on most topics so feel free to keep contributing to the forum.

Thanks Joe and I appreciate the kind words. I REALLY wanted to see myself in a G. I shopped around hard for one. They are fantastic boats. No doubt about it.

I was just looking through some local boat dealer websites and found that MB. And I stopped and reflected on it for a minute and it checks every box I need.

Let's get this straight. I don't fault ANYONE for buying a new boat. Never. Everyone is entitled to their own desires. Just not the right move for me at this time.
