        RE: Steering adjustment

This has come up on another forum on which I'm pretty active time and time again. Usually, it's because someone has a hard pull to the right and doesn't know why. Anyway, you can file the trailing edge of your rudder every so slightly on one side or the other. This will cause your boat to pull to whatever side (right side if you file the right trailing edge). Once you're used to the loaded rudder, you'll find yourself wondering how you did without it.

When doing this. Do only a tiny bit at a time. Then test it before deciding if you want to do more. Here's a picture of my rudder. I believe this was done at the factory as many were on my type of boat in the early 90s. Notice how tiny the file mark is. It runs the length of the trailing edge. The arrow is just where it's most easily noticed. But even with such a small piece missing from the trailing edge, if I let go of my wheel at ski speed, the wheel will spin. Rule #1. Don't let go.

Took this question to our dealer CC specialist, his idea was do not file because you dont know where you end.
His good idea epoxy glue or rubberglue a small correction plate, this changes the foil, draft side & lift side.
Correct the draft & lift is the same as the file job does.
When not glue a plate, you can correct the edge also with a solid filled epoxy wich will not drip, common here in the supermarket. Not the transperent but take the grey filled epoxy, you can also use the epoxy repair gum.
Epoxy can easily be modified with a file without damaging your rudder.
