    March 18-28 water temps?

My daughter has middle school spring break March 18-28. How far south would i need to go to be able to get a little water and boat time in above 60 degree water temps? Any suggestions? I would be leaving from Pa.

You'll need to go past TN to see those temps in March. Probably South GA or AL but you'll be in gator country although I doubt they are active in those temps.

Rent a house on the private side of Lake Anna, VA. Water temps near the reactor discharge are 66 degrees today. By March, will be a little higher.

I always wondered about that. Is it safe?

Been wakeboarding there for years. Only a slight glow at night and the third arm comes in handy sometimes. Thousands of residences on the private side. Never heard anything bad. Boat traffic is most certainly safe. People tend to have a higher degree of respect for others on this part of the lake.

Dallas / Fort Worth lakes should be in the mid 60's by then.

I boarded with Jeff on the warm side of Lake Anna in February a few years ago and it was awesome! (Did wear a full wetsuit)

Help me understand the logistics of Anna. Here is what I know. The warm side is private, but you can rent cottages and homes and have access to the warm water. If you just come to the lake and launch your boat- the private or warm side is not accessible to you?

                  ^^^

Warm/Private side is private. You need to have a friend or rent a house to get your boat in the water.

Public/Cold side is public and cold. In March the water will be 50s+.

In March.... "IF" both reactors are running.... you'll have ~80sdeg water in the first closest pool and ~70sdeg water in the next set of pools.

That is if the reactors are up and running. If they take them offline for whatever reason.... subtract 10-15degs. but still should be 5-10deg warmer than the cold side.

I've been in those waters since 2009

Yes, the pools are different sections on the warm/private side, pull I up on Google maps. If you have access to the warm/private side, you have access to the entire warm/private side.

The warm/private side is separate from the cold/public side. You have to trailer to get between the two.

Look at LKA on Google. Find the reactor. The public side is the larger part of the lake north and west. The private side is marked by three dams. The "pond"'closest to the reactor is the warmest. There are canals to the other ponds. Like other said, when you rent a house, make sure it is on the warm side and comes with ramp access. Also take some fuel cans with you or pull your boat out each day and refuel. There are no marinas on the private side. Marinas and lake front restaurants are on the cold-water public side.

It's 55F water today and by March it ought to be over 60F. Warm air helps a lot!
