Mounting tower, what is under side rail, CCSN 1990 new model

    Hi there,

Temps a rising overehere, late spring, so i have started mounting the new tower, without my warm wintercoat, on the CCSN 1990 new model.

Question, under the rail behind the front seat, there where the towers foot should stay, I am removing the foam, there is a yelow tube under the foam, also on the left and right side there is something glassed in, possibly a wooden stringer.
Is this a foam or wooden stringer? Or are these ducts for electric.
I would like to drill and damage and find out the hard way.

    Any help is welcome.

Are there any suprises when removing the foam under the bownose, just in front of the windshield the foot should rest.

    Tanks for your help.

What type of tower are you installing? On my install, 95SN and FCT, the front feet mounted very close to the rub rail and to the outside of the foam so there was no need to remove any. On the sides, I scraped off the foam and buttered a piece of 1/2 in. plywood with bondo. When pressed into place under the gunnel the bondo fills any pockets and gives you a nice flat mounting surface. The pvc guide tubes for electric were not a factor in my install, yours could be different.

I drilled for my New Dimension FCT style tower...not too bad. When scraping the foam, if you are close to the rails you will find the screws that hold the deck to the hull and the rub rail to the whole boat. There appears to be "plywood" strengthening strips glassed to the unberside of the bow.

The sides are a little harder. Port side, there was nothing in my way. Starbord side, there is a PVC tube they use to run the speedo pickup lines and other electrical to the rear of the boat. Fuel gauge and speakers, gunnel lighting I presume. I used a dremel with a cutting disc to split the PVC lengthwise...picture a hot dog bun...then cut it around it's diameter to remove it and pull it out of the way. I then glassed in the metal backing plate and bolted it on. I let the wires hang under all tha, but will go back with some loom material I have from my "hot rod". BTW I have a 92 Ski.
