I am looking at a 15 G21 used love the boat but my standard 8 ft garage dealer says a no go... I see I could order a new trailer to make a g21 fit into an 8 ft (likely 7' 11") door but my question is can I modify a current trailer? Was thinking deflate tires, axle swing or cutting bunk supports down?? Anyone have personal experience trying to make a G fit a standard 8ft door.

If you've got the boatmate trailer I think it would be extremely difficult to modify it and get any significant reduction in height since the boat sits above the fenders. I think it's only around an inch of clearance.
We have a G23 but I think it's the same height as the G21. Our garage entry is 8'1" and were able to get it in our garage by letting all the air out of the tires and by backing it in using our QX60 which has a lower hitch than our truck (although a drop hitch would do the same thing). It's a bit of a PITA to get it in so I wouldn't want to do it more than once a year for winter storage.
When we picked up our boat the dealer said that we could order the boat with smaller wheels which would drop the height - might be something to look in to.

Some out-of-the-box thinking....What about digging on the right spot ? A pneumatic hammer, some concrete and done. Then you can cover it with sand or pebbles when it is not used.Last edited by josemolino; 02-29-2016, 04:19 PM.

My G23 (1" taller than a G21 measured chine-to-gunnel) fits at 7'11", but the trailer was designed that way from day 1. For the 23, the trick was to get the boat to sit between the fenders and it might be necessary on a 21. Without knowing more about your trailer, it's impossible to know what options are available to you...but modifying the trailer by adjusting the torsion axles, dropping the bunks, using smaller wheels/tires, and (if necessary) increasing the prop-cage-to-ground-clearance isn't that big of a deal for a trailer manufacturer. All of that is probably cheaper than buying a new trailer even taking into consideration what you can sell yours for. I'd start by measuring exactly how much room I need and then estimate how much I can get from each step. If you only need an inch or two, the easiest and cheapest area is to change the angle of the arms on the axles.Previous boats:

I have a G23 and after trial and error I am now able to store it in our 8' garage. I went to our local tire shop and bought four "dummy" tires that have a smaller diameter. Can't remember exactly but I think they are 13" wheels. I have a ramp that I drive one tire or axel onto at a time when swapping the tires. I still have to let some air out of the dummy tires and then it clears the top of the garage. I leave the dummy tires on all winter.
