New G23 with registration #'s

None of what I'm saying is a condemnation of Jeff or his decals. Which is why I never bothered working with him to get them right. When I saw what he sent me.... honestly I was shocked--- no wake boat owner ever would put those on his boat. And 99% of us would know that in about 2 seconds. When things are that bad....I'll just shake my head and part ways especially out of respect for Jeff. Honestly it made me doubt we could even have a reasonable conversation to get it right.

i am solely pointing out to fellow boaters be careful of what you order. I thought I was getting decals that were a close match to the Nautique chromax letters. I got MASSIVE (yes) 3" tall but 3ft long decals.

my loyalties on here always will be to the average boat owner. Cheers.

This is getting pretty heated but I feel I have something to add as an owner of a graphics based business (apparel screen printing and embroidery). I feel for Jeff here. Customer gets what they ask for especially if they approve the artwork (read fine print when ordering in jeffs system).

A.) make the situation right for any dissatisfied customer (regardless of the time that has passed)
B.) realize his font needs to be kerned and edited (like domed numbers does) to match while being practical in a real world use.
C.) provide a to-scale mockup by email for approval (free to do) before the vinyl is cut.


In my business, if we had a font a baseball team wanted to use for their back name and numbers that was extra wide we would edit as needed to fit onto their shirts rather than print from one sleeve to the other. Graphics 101.


Sorry Jeff. I understand the "true font match" mentality but their also needs to be some graphics expertise when selling such a product.

I ordered the two inch numbers, based on Jeff's recommendation and they are perfect for the G23. They look great! The only thing I would recommend is to roll the decal instead of folding them.

Again, I suggest you measure your chromax letters. I am not at home this weekend or I would post a measurement, but I am pretty certain that my font will match up very closely to the chromax letters. I could understand all of your complaints if what you are suggesting here (that the decals I sent were NOT a close match to the Nautique chromax) was indeed true. Below is a picture I have on my computer of the chromax letters on my G23, and below that are the same words using the font I use for the decals. The fonts are the same height, and the width is almost identical.

I am not trying to be argumentative here. I am truly trying to "get it".

A. I do make the situation right for any dissatisfied customer. All they have to do is contact me, let me know about the issue, and request my assistance in finding the best fix. Any who have done so have been very satisfied with the results. What I cannot do is fix issues that I am not made aware of (like Ryan's). Are you suggesting that I remove the warning about refunds not being granted for numbers that don't fit the boat, even though the measurements are clearly stated and a warning is given? Maybe the wording there is too strong?

B. The recommended 2" size of the current Nautique font does not need to be modified, and looks great on any boat the size of any Nautique. I have run the 2" numbers on my last six boats with zero issues, and they look great and truly match the Nautique font. I honestly don't agree with the idea that I should have to modify the font's width, since I clearly provide the maximum width that the decals will be, provide a clear warning about the 3" Nautique font graphics, and have proven that the font I use is virtually identical to Nautique's official font. That being said, in the interest of customer satisfaction, I will look into what is involved in doing this. I wonder, though, how I should list the font on the website, since it will not be a true representation of the current Nautique font if modified.

C. This is a suggestion I can possibly incorporate! I will look into this when I get back from Easter vacation.

Also, just for a little additional information for those wondering if anyone would order the 3" numbers in the current Nautique font if they read the disclaimer and measurement information, I just had an order placed yesterday for a set of 3" numbers in that font. I e-mailed the purchaser, and included the warning message about the 3" numbers in that font, and included the 75" measurement. I asked for verification that this was indeed what he wanted to order, and he replied that he did indeed want these numbers in that size, even though they would be 75" long. I would like feedback on whether, after verifying with the customer in this way, I should be expected to refund his money or replace his decals if he receives them and determines that they won't fit on his boat.

I am interested to hear more about this. The decals should have arrived in a Priority Mail box, and should have been rolled, not folded, although the roll may have been oblong. Was the box damaged or crushed in shipping? If the boxes I am using are not sufficient, I want to know so I can find a better box.

Jeff to your last question about helping a customer who approved the measurements- at that point it's on the customer as they approved it outright. In my business we still have people approve artwork they end up being displeased with for one reason or another. In that case (within reason) we do what we need to do to make sure they are satisfied with their experience. Often we call it "buying a friend".

On Monday can probably upload a to-scale mockup on a 75" decal.

I may be mistaken but I believe they were shipped in an priority envelope not a box. I hung them out and the creases were able to be rubbed out.
I like your stickers. The dome style to me are dated and remind me of old Malibu stickers.
If one could get actual chromax that would be very tempting. The 2" are perfect.

I haven't used envelopes for many years now. I have this huge stack of Priority Mail boxes that all of my orders go out in. The boxes are only about an inch tall, so I wonder if it got crushed in the mail. Maybe I will look into adding some support to the boxes. Glad the creases were able to be rubbed out. I would certainly replace them otherwise.

Yeah, an inch tall box might have gotten crushed, and probably will continue to get crushed...the decalcity box was like 5 x 5 or 6 x 6. just something to consider.
