I’m considering buying a Sport Nautique 200V and curious what the slalom wake is like in the 26 – 30 mph range? I know it’s the same hull as the 200 direct drive, but the Sport is a V-drive, so I suspect it needs to be on a good plane to flatten the wake out, but what speed is that? Also, how is the slalom wake in the 30 - 34 mph range at 15’ off? The family wants a boat that can do it all, but it seems there is no crossover boat that is great at everything. Slalom is our passion, but we also really like surfing and know that we’ll have to compromise on both. My kids are just getting into the course at 26 – 30 mph and last thing I want is for them to hate the wake at those speeds. Appreciate any comments. Thanks!

If you need a V drive for the family, but are serious about skiing, the 200V is the only real option out there. Just a thought, if your kids are getting into the course, they may start to get much more serious about it, then start begging you for a 200DD in the next couple of years?
The only way you'll know for sure on the 200V wakes is to go ski one. My hunch is you'll find them perfectly acceptable, but you need to decide for yourself. It's a great boat, no doubt!Last edited by swc5150; 03-07-2016, 01:53 PM.'08 196LE (previous)

Totally agree with Scotty boy's post above and would also ask what are you skiing behind now?? If you are coming from a TSCx SN the 200V is going to feel like a wall in comparison at the slow speeds/longer lengths.

I had one. The wakes under 30 are larger, no doubt but over 30 very comparable to the DD. We were traveling from a DD to the current 210, it was in the middle and while it did everything well the DD and bigger V's do more for what they are built for.
The Sport is the only true real crossover out there.2013 SANTE 210

So we bought one and we're extremely happy with it. Great for surfing and slalom. While a 200 might be preferable for hard core course skiers, my 10 yr old son at 28 mph has no complaints nor do I at various speeds and rope lengths. They hit a home run with this boat!

I just bought a 2011 Sport 200V with 72 hours. I found it online in Wisconsin and had is shipped to California last Friday. We both slalom and have two little slalom skiers as well (6 & 8yr olds).
We had a 2001 pro air, direct drive, and have been struggling for room for many years. I just couldn't let go of that boat because we need a crossover boat that still skis well. Our old boat had a mean trough and it would make it tough when crossing the second wake. Both wakes were pretty sharp and meaty as well. My 8 year old rips, and his cross wake speed is so fast that i used to cringe if our old boat was loaded heavily.
We skied the new boat yesterday for the first time, and I can't believe what a great wake it has at 25-28 for the kids. Flat table, no trough, and soft wake at 15' off. And 30+ is even better. And that was with a full tank and 2 extra people on board. I'll learn to get the wake really dialed in with a little bit of time figuring out weight distribution.
The Sport 200V is evrything I was looking for and it handles great. I've been spending time on some friend's new Mastercraft X-10s and X-30s. Both of those boats are super nice, but their wakes are MUCH bigger than the 200V...Especially at slower speeds for kids.
The wakeboard wake was impressive as well. Sharp and rampy without rear balllasts filled at slower kid speeds (16-18mph). And great with full ballasts at regular board speeds (20-22),
We're super happy so far.
