We had a '88 Barefoot Nautique 2001. My brother in law has got it and it's great!!!
The interior of '86 and newer are much nicer. Expecially the '88-'89 versions. The '89 version is the first Nauti with a single exhaust and gear reduction.
If I was looking for a Nauti 2001 a going to look at a 88-89 version (for the modern dashboard)....

But some weight (500) in the back and (250) in the front and the wake is perfect. Put more in it and the wake is great...

      Kwanx,

I don't know where you live but I just added my 2001 to the For Sale list. I love this boat but we decided we wanted a bigger boat. Check it out. "1982 Ski Nautique 2001"

SGY, If you wouldn't mind emailing me some more pictures, I'd truely appreciate it. I think zipping them would make it easier for you. Do happen to know where this 'doc' lives in Wisconsin? Wisconsin is a big place with many lakes, but I will keep my eyes peeled for a red/gray 88 w/o graphics next summer.

Also, is that gray carpet original? Most of the 80's SNs i've come across have the carpet matching the main stripe color. Our boat has black carpet (I think looks much better than it would red) and obviously doesn't stain or get as dirty as the colored carpets would.

Horrywood (sorry can't resist-your call sigh reminds me of that Belushi flick with the lost Japanese solidier. He opens the hatch of his sub and spots the moniker on the side of the mountain and says to himself: "Horrywood". Gotta love it.)

Anyway, I'm not sure where the doc lives. He might be down in the Green Bay area. I know he summers quite a bit around the Three Lakes area. John LeMond at Watercraft Sales helped me sell the boat. A good friend of mine has a group of cabins on Rangeline lake--on the Three Lakes chain. His name is Ross Williams--ever heard of him?

I'll email you all the pics I have. By the way, I had to put the decals back on the boat in the sale. The decals are stock and look pretty good.

Hmm, never thought you could get the decals off and be able to put them back on w/o ruining them.

Oh, and the whole "l=r" thing for the orientals...I definitely use that on a daily basis. I like to sing the christmas carol from "A Christmas Story" when the family goes to the restaurant because the dogs ate the food. "'Tis the season to be jorry, Fa ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra"

Sorry for my poor communciation. I ordered the decals new from West Coast Correct Craft. What I meant to say was that they were stock appearing.

Yeah, taking decals off and putting them back on would be quite a chore.

hollywood, are the '87's louder than the other years? mine is an '87 and is very loud and I thought that it was just the mufflers had rusted or something...

The new Vernay mufflers came out in 89, I don't know when the last muffler change was made before that, but i'd guess the 82-88s all should sound the same.
