    New G23 and window tint

Just received pics of our G23 being built and wanted to share it here because this has been a great resource for our family as went through the process of ordering our first nautique. Does any one have recommendations on what % tint works best? Ive never had a boat with tint and definitely don't want to go to dark. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Click image for larger version

warning-- only take it to an EXPERIENCED MARINE window tint place with good reviews.

Marine glass is very soft compared to auto glass, and hacks will scratch your windshield.

Marine glass is more....much more difficult than autos. Probably should remove the windshields... you'll get a better job done.

With that said... I have 30% on my G and love it.

nyryan2001 Can you post a picture of the tint on your boat? I'm working with a customer who is interested in getting 15% on his new G23

Ryan CA Good Choice with the color combo! Loving the hull bottom color being the source of color. Can't wait to see more of it!

Sounds like you're pretty set on getting them tinted. However, I would recommend going with a light tint (say 50%) if you plan on using your boat any in late evenings. Maybe it's just a few of us, but I know I myself usually stay out late to try to get the last hours of light in for boarding since that's when the water is the calmest, which leaves me tracking back to the loading ramp in the dark. My 2nd boat had tinted windows and I had to sit up above the windshield to see at night or even just low light. My last boat did not have tint and I can't even begin to convey how nice it was to be able to just sit down behind the windshield, with the cabin closed off and the heater and heated seats on blast (on the cooler evenings). I don't think I'll ever go back to tinted windows on a boat. Now you may not have those types of situations as often as I, but just something for you to think about. With that said...I DO like the look of tinted windows!

I would post pics... But since Tapatalk has been disabled... It's a PITA to hang pics from a moble device on here. Used to be two clicks and done.

I've tinted mine to between 5% and 10%. Realistic? Of course not, but **** does it look good! Great on sunny days. I will admit dusk rides suck terribly but I've gotten used to it and only used it 3 times since I did it over the winter.

Would I do it again? Probably would but not as dark. I had 18% on my last boat and it was a happy medium.

Not sure what you're talking about. Tapatalk is working fine for me, and I have not been notified of anyone else having issues with it. Most of the pictures and posts in this thread have been posted via Tapatalk.

I've only noticed having to click one more button now. Hit the plus sign and then it will allow you to attach pictures just like normal, on an iPhone anyways.

Again... Be ultra weary of letting folks touch your glass. Regular auto tint folks.... Who might be good at auto glass... Will be hacks on marine glass. Razor knife scoring like they do on auto glass will permanently scratch and damage soft marine glass.

The bends and curves in the corners of these windshields are level 10 deathstar difficult to get right. It's best to remove the windshield and allow them to work at it on a bench. The hot steam gun needed to bend and form tint flat over awkward bends can melt/damage the dash in those tight areas.

                        Caution.

These guys did mine, not on the link. And I've seen two of the others in person. The dark blue is 35%. The red design package is 20%.

I went with 35% since we are out at dusk a fair amount. I will admit the darker looks better. But the 35% was a good compromise on form and function.

What percentage is this? I'm also thinking about tint and was thinking 20% would be a good coverage and not impossible to see through at dusk.
