I noticed that the front of the boat that the Model X is towing on Tesla's website looks familiar. I didn't know the G series boats were under 5k lbs.

Or the fact that it says you can tow UP TO 5000lbs....then show a picture towing a boat which even if a G21 has a dry weight of 5000-5500lbs, add gear, fuel, trailer...and way over towing capacity. Prob not a smart move in advertising. But then again, I don't expect people who would buy something like this expecting to use it for towing to be that smart anyways.

Towing probably cuts the range way down, but it's not like gas tow vehicles can go far in a tank of gas either.
I'm sure that this was the work of a graphical designer(look at the trailer) and I doubt engineering was asked about what boat to photoshop behind the car. I just thought it was kinda funny that they chose a boat that the Model X is not supposed to tow. And no one should tow, since it is best to stick to the manufacturers recommended max ratings for towing, hitch weight, and rear axle weight.Last edited by beach; 04-14-2016, 06:15 PM.

That has to be the new electric G that also uses the battery weight as ballast. The two are designed to connect together and get you farther down the road. You just have to wait until the next morning for the batteries to charge before you back it into the water.
Who did the art work on the trailer tongue? It looks amateur.2013 G23 450 with NSS (175hrs) and still have the original prop
