    Anchors

    Hey Everyone,

I'm new to the forum. I just bought my dream boat and can't wait for it to be delivered.

I ordered a g23 that should be delivered from the factory in the next 7-10 days. (Trailer may be a few days behind the boat because my build date got moved up)

This may be a question that has been asked and answered but what anchor types are you using. I'm in the pacific NW so will be boating on the Columbia River and in lakes around Washington. I'm looking at a box anchor vs a Digger Anchor, but I'm open to any ideas or thoughts.

    COMING SOON!!!!!

I boat in Portland on the Willamette and Columbia mostly, and a box anchor is by far the best around here.

Will you be on the Columbia near Crescent Bar? For day stops at the dune, fill out your set up with the sand spike. Allows the boat to stand off the beach (stern-to). Check it out.

Thanks for the quick responses. Those ideas are exactly what I've been thinking. The box anchor with a sand spike and an anchor buddy rope should be a nice setup.
Does everyone use a large box anchor? The slide anchor web page says that a small box anchor should work for a 23 ft boat. Anyone use a small or is everyone using a large???

I purchased the small...and I may be wrong, but I would think it would be plenty. But then again I don't spend any time in a river. The small was actually WAY bigger than I had expected. Even with the small...I am afraid of pulling it in! You will have to be very careful when pulling it up not to hit the boat! And the small is pretty heavy as well! I couldn't imagine handling a large box anchor! But I do agree with everyone else in that a box anchor is the way to go!

              Great looking boat too!

The small is labeled up to 30ft. Reason I recommended the large is because of the wind and current scenario being in a river. On the river down by me currents can get in to 3-5mph at certain times. Couple that wind and the huge freeboard I would rather error on the side of caution with the lager anchor being only 25.00 more and few inches bigger.

I use a small on my 210 with zero issues , but i would think the G may need the bump up. Just my opinion here. Anchors are like engines........I don't think anyone ever complained about having too much anchor.

I used the small with a 20' tige last year and always found myself looking at the boat from shore and waking up in the middle of the night worried. With my new G I am going large for sure.

Until they had to man handle it over into the bow without banging it into the boat, seats, people, etc! But yeah, like I said, may need the large in a river scenario.
