    2 questions for the UK

Hi all UK owner of a 2004 216 Air Nautique Team.

    2 quick questions if possible.

    1. Poor starting intermittently. Runs perfect when started but have to hold finger on start button a lot longer than I used to until she will start. Then seems a little sluggish to burst into life. Once running is perfect. Have changed filter element.

Have read low pressure fuel pumps can fail? Can hear pumps buzz when first pressing the button?

    Engine is the 330 Excalibur

    2. Original clarion Xmd3 head unit has started playing up this season. Worked fine when first started a few weeks ago after winterisation. But then last weekend wouldn't power up all weekend until we put the boat away Sunday evening then starting working perfectly. Checked all wiring and seems fine.

Was working fine again this weekend but then stopped powering up when we went out for our last set.

Have tried tried to reset. No luck. Seems to lose/get no power as not even able to eject CDs. Any ideas on what else to check before
    I replace the head unit??

Aware the head units over 12 years old now but seems weird to work fine one minute then nothing the next and wiring seems fine on both the red and yellow wires?

    Greatly appreciate any help...

    Thanks

Is fuel old/bad from layup? Sounds like you changed the FCC filter, if so that's good.
When was the last tune up done? Check the cap, my Excal needs a new one every 2 or 3 years.
My LPP failed around the 400 hr mark, symptoms were intermittent difficult starts and random stalling while underway.

      Hi Quinner,

Fuels good. Starting problem started towards the end of last season but seems to be getting worse.. Once started runs perfect.

Have only changed the cap for about 5 years so that could be an option.

Did you get starting problems when your caps started to fail?

Cap is due for a change regardless, replace the cap and see how things go.
If problem remains after cap replacement I would be looking at the LPP and it's relay.
