I have always been 100% strictly no dogs allowed on my boat. I am just wondering if anyone on here has had issues with seats being torn by letting a dog on your boat? My girlfriend keeps pestering me and I don't want a dog on my boat but I also have friends that can't come out on the water with me because they have to leave their dog at home.

First order of business who can't leave their dogs at home for few hours? I am all about pets and animals, but people have gone overboard with Fido being attached to them like kids. The entire "service dog " thing is being totally abused as well. Sorry for the detour. Back on track here.
First off go take the pup and get the nails trimmed and grinded. Line the seats with towels and call it a day. I have a 70lb Rhodesian Ridgeback that takes an occasional spin on the water. There used to be a company that actually made custom seat covers that were like beach towels with elastic you could slip over your seats. Might be an option you want to explore if it's going to be a common place. Just slip them on and slip em off for the wash. The name escapes me at the moment. My dog loves swimming in her vest. Bout the only time I get squeamish is when she's gotta get back up on the swim platform. Her nails go crazy getting up there and I cringe . The make some nifty boarding ladders for the dogs. My dog doesn't go out enough to justify one so I just fill the rear tanks so the platform gets well under the surface to make it easier.

We bring ours some (70lb Flat Coated Retriever). We try to keep her mostly on the carpet and not on the seats, but we don't completely stress out about it. We do keep her nails clipped to keep the seat rip to a minimum. She probably only goes out a few times a year with us, but our kids like those times the most. That being said, I don't think I'd be comfortable with other people's pets on my boat unless I knew they behavior very well in advance.
Keep in mind that you'll need to plan some "shore breaks" for the dog. If you plan to be out on the water for hours, might be an issue for the pup.DTT

Mine is a regular passenger, but not for super long stretches, she likes it but gets a little stressed when riders drop in to start their sets. She's a 75lbs Golden retriever mix, when we head back for lunch we usually leave her at the cottage for the PM. We put a vest on her too, same as the kids.Current : 2000 Pro Air Nautique, Silver&Black accents, pulled by 2012 black Chevy Tahoe

Yes we have an 80# Yellow Lab. She loves the boat but it is a full time ordeal when she is on-board. Any waterfowl flying, floating, etc. is fair game no matter the speed we are traveling across the water. I have a plastic cover over the back sun pads that Nautique Hunter's wife made for us and it keeps the dogs nails in check. Dont get me wrong my blood pressure sky rockets when we have her in the boat but she is a family member all the same......2008 210 SANTE

Our first cockapoo used to jump at the rope shadow and put a very small hole in the seat. From then on, she only went along when there were no skiers. We have two cockapoos and they both go along whenever they choose (most of the time unless it is too hot) and always on the pontoon. They love it, especially standing on the front bow of the pontoon. Neither one has damaged the vinyl on the Nautique.Ski on dude!

No dogs on mine. However, I would make one exception. My buddy trained his dog to bark when the rider fell. She was well behaved and would sit and watch diligently. I never saw her fail and it made driving easier.2013 G23 450 with NSS (175hrs) and still have the original prop

I take MY lab on MY boat whenever it's just the family but she stays home when others come. She never gets in the water (though we try). I would never think of trying to take her on someone else's boat. [crossing fingers] so far no issues with vinyl and she always claims shotgun.

Our lab comes with us. He doesnt like the seats. I pressure wash (med setting) the carpets and wet vac anyway so no hair. He loves the time on the boat and swimming.
I agree with another poster and probably wouldnt allow another dog - or unruly child - unless I was comfortable about the dogs training and behavior.
BTW - Do not cut on service dogs. Unless youve seen what service dog owners have seen/experienced no standing to comment. Just "tough it out, dont be a wimp" are not therapy and not options.
