Anybody done a warranty transfer when buying a Nautique?

Looking at a 2015 Nautique and wanted to know about warranty transferring? I most likely will be buying from an individual and wanted to know how to go about it. Does it matter how many owners it has had since new? Does it cover everything in the initial warranty period, or what's left of the 5 years? Any info about cost is welcomed as well.

    Thank you,

    Andy

My understanding is that the warranty transfers, but only parts. Labor costs have to be picked up by the second owner. I believe you have to register with Nautique as well. I'm not very versed on it as I bought new and intend to keep the boat for longer than the warranty period. Good luck.

It can only be transferred to the second owner. And it only includes parts--no labor. The total cost is about $700. You have to fill out two forms in the owners manual--one to PCM and one to Correct Craft with separate checks for the transfer. And you have to do it within like 30 days of purchase.

I went through this last fall, correct that parts and hull warranty is only transferable to second owner. The Nautique portion is $600 ($300 hull/$300 parts) and MUST be received within 15 days, along with a Bill of Sale. I completed this portion before getting my boat and trailer registered/titled with the state.

The PCM engine transfer is $100 and you have 30 days, but also requires an inspection and less than 300 hours. I had the owner to take the boat to the dealer for inspection before transfer, that way I had some reassurance there were no mechanical issues and warranty would transfer. I reimbursed him for this at closing, seems the PCM inspection was around $170 and may vary per dealer. All this info is in the manuals, which can be downloaded off this site.

I called Nautique about this just last week. They were not all that hip on the hull warranty transfer because it is so rarely used. It is mostly a waste of $300 because there have been so few hull failures. It is sort of like insuring something that never breaks. I suggested the new owner of my boat consider that.
