I lake tested a '94 SN today w/ the 310 h.p. EFI pcm pro boss that I'm interested in buying. While at about 3/4 throttle the engine started making a popping noise and noticed the engine was at 230 degrees. After shutting down the engine, we noticed the water intake line was left disconnected after winterizing and not hooked back up. The engine had no water getting to it at all. Needless to say, the impeller was melted away to nothing, because it was still overheating after reconnecting the water line. I need some advice. Should I steer clear from this boat now due to potential engine damage or are these engines equipped with emergency shutoff devices due to severe overheating? Any replies are appreciated.

RE: Engine Overheated!
Did you have water coming up in the bottom of the boat??? Water should have been rushing in going 30 mph. Also, at 230 degrees the little red light on the dash and the alarm should have been going off. I would steer clear of this one. Sounds like it has issues.1973 CC Skier

RE: Engine Overheated!
I agree with Larry. It's probably a good thing that it happened. The incident probably saved you some heartburn down the road. I use enough Rolaids with things that I know. I don't need to add to it with stuff like that.1976 Ski Nautique.....old but it\'s still going strong
