Setting up the G 23 for surfing.

I understand the settings are vast, but in general how does the G 23 like to be weighted. For example the factory settings on the tanks for surfing are not all full. I thought this was odd, seeing the comp boats fully slammed.

I have 500 pound of lead on the midline 250 each side, so it will surf nice with just 3 people. However if I only have say four people in the boat, where should they sit to get the best wave?

Would love to get some advice. The G is a 2015

I found that the stock wakesurf settings weren't the best either. I'm surprised that your factory settings didn't have full ballast - ours was so maybe someone changed it?

For a long wave we've got ours set at 11.6 mph, NSS at 2 and NCRS at 5 and all ballasts full. This works good regular and goofy for us. Moving people around doesn't seem to change the wave much.

The stock setting was too slow also. I like Jeb's advice. The beautiful thing I like about the G23 is you just put more weight and it gets better.

You should hear some of the recipes on the Tige owners forum for guys trying to get the boat 'dialed in'. It is so awesome that with the G, you pretty much just load up and ride. Add more weight and ride some more.

On my 2013 in the 10 hrs I've been experimenting so far. 300#'s lead under bow seats, Stock Belly full, Stock Surf Side full, Then I fill two 1100# bags for the rear lockers. NCRS 5 and NSS 2 at 12.0mph. Wicked surf wave.

I think that has to be the mackin' surf wave. You have 2500 over stock there. WOW! I will likely be plumbing in 1100's this summer some time.

Where did you get your lead from? I want to put some on the port side when boarding to offset the torque from the prop.

Yea I held off on plumbing because I didn't want to commit till I knew the boat could push the weight.

I made my own for a fraction of the cost. 4" pvc pipe with old tire weights stuffed in, used sand to fill all the voids. 32" length equals roughly 50#'s I made 6 of them for like $50 haha. Instead of almost $500 to buy it.

I will probably use an extra battery to offset the prop torque. Won't hurt the stereo any, either. You also may be able to scoop up a bunch of lead from your friendly indoor firing range. Then poison yourself by melting it down. Do it outside. A lead brick that is a little over an inch tall, and 12 X 8 inches also weighs about 50 pounds.

When we had our G23, I know that adding 400lbs in the rear locker surf side made a huge difference. With the 400 lbs and the setting that worked best that day (never found anything terribly consistent) it was difficult to stay off the back of the boat. This allowed for a little additional speed to lengthen it out.
