    Pulling Tubes with a G23

Before I get any backlash.....yes yes I know...WHO PULLS TUBES?!!

Trust me, I don't tube, nor do I really like pulling tubes. I've probably pulled a tube out of storage about 3 times in the past 2 years. But, with that said, I also partake in the Wake the World foundation event at SML every year. For those of you that don't know, it's where a ton of wake/ski boats meet up and give underprivileged children the opportunity to get out on the water and enjoy something that they would otherwise not get to experience. It's a blessing of a lifetime so I highly recommend doing it if you get the chance in your area! But most of those children are fairly young and/or don't really want to try to wakeboard, but LOVE riding the tube. I'm mainly just asking this question for that event solely...for those of you with a G-series boat, where do you pull tubes from?

I would say the tow point on the stern is the only safe option.

Not sure it matters. I don't like pulling tubes from the tower. It just seems like so much stress is created by slinging that tube that I can't get comfortable with it. With having our first G this summer, I think I'll keep the tubing behind the SeaDoo.

Both tow points mentioned are ok. The high tow point on the tower will allow the tube to take more air, so more dangerous or more fun depending on the "skill" of the tubers. The low tow point will not allow so much air, less dangerous. I will advise the low tow point in your case

Trust me....I don't do it. I'm still not even into Wakesurfing yet! I'm still a core wakeboarder. This was just for that one or two occasions a year that I actually do it. My XStar had a ski pylon which was ONLY used to pull tubes. Worked perfectly. The G's don't have a pylon and I too don't really prefer to pull from the tower if possible. I just wasn't sure if the rear grab handle would support it or not.

Just to clarify...I don't have my boat yet...But I did just watch a few G23 videos and was able to stop it and could see that on the rear grab handle, there is a rope attachment hook inside the handle. From other pictures I couldn't quite tell that as it is kind of hidden. So this thread is pretty much void now! I'll def be pulling from the grab handle rope attachment point!!

I pull from the tower. pulling from the rear attachment is difficult because the rope continuously drags in the water and you can hardly get a whip going unless you are going 30+. The tower can handle it. I use a bungee type tube rope, so that if I ever do get slack in the rope, which I try not to do, it recoils instead of snaps.

If you have kids at some point you are going to pull a tube. I agree with Tallredrider and use the same rope but pull from the rear more than the tower. The rope dragging in the water is a pain but around 20 mph I can make it fun for the riders. I'm very careful pulling from the tower (which is a better ride as xxrb2010 points out) and make sure to keep slack out of the rope and make sure the tube doesn't get submerged.

I've seen a few using the SportsStuff Booster Ball but have not tried it.

I pull my kids and other kids on the tube all the time. Have always used the tower without a second thought.

FWIW I caved in and pulled the kids on the tube last time out. We used the bungee rope from the back, then tried the booster ball. The ball provided mild improvement in performance. The kids kept getting sprayed in the face as the rope caught in the wake. I'm using it to encourage retirement of the tube

I pull from tower. Nicer ride for kids because tube sits up on water better and I don't have to go as fast to get them out of wake.

I don't know about anybody else but when I pull an experienced wakeboarder at 23 mph and 75 ft of rope it feels like a lot more stress on tower than 3 kids on a tube.

I had something happen to me this weekend, that never happened to me before. I submerged a tube while pulling from the tower. With the trajectory being upward, I had never had a problem with that. The G23 handled it like nothing, and the tower is as stout and straight as ever. It happened because the water was a little cool, and after we filled the tubes, the cool water shrunk the air inside (PV=NRT), and the tube was a little flat. Nothing puts as much pressure as a submerged tube. I will be inflating with a little extra air from now on if I see the tube getting low.
