    Reaserching the G21 and G23

I'm looking to get back into the boat game, selling some toys and looking for my next toy. I have never owned a wake board boat. Spent some time on a Rinker and a Crownline. Having done a bunch of research I have zeroed in on either a 21 or 23 and that is why I joined this forum. I'm going today to look at a 15 G23 and a 16 and a 16 G21. I keep going back and forth on used vs new. One big problem I have ran into is pricing, I have heard so many different things from people in the industry and friends that use to work in the industry. When buying new I have been told the MSRP, then followed up with our price is XYS. Then I get a price from a different dealership. Keep in mind most of the models are very similar in options. So I was hoping to get some info from you guys. To keep it simple let talk about the G23, what is a good price for a brand new 16?

Motor - which motor do you guys recommend?

I am new to the Nautique world too. My 14 has the 450 and there's TONS of power. I think most nowadays have the 409. I have heard that's plenty power also. Just can't speak from experience.

Most of the ones I am seeing online have the 450, I would guess its good enough. Did you buy the 14 new or used?

There are too many variables to give you a price on a new G23. Many options, down to metal flake paint change the price. If you can give us an idea of what options you are considering we can help you better. Also pricing will be somewhat different regionally. Personally if you are "new" to the boat and/or Nautique game i'd suggest going used just in case you decide it isn't for you there won't be as much of a price hit to get out of a used boat. New Nautiques hold their value very well but there is still depreciation.

Use the search function to find SEVERAL topics on motor size. it has been pretty well beaten to death and always comes down to 1) what you are planning on doing with your boat 2) price difference

Just went through the same decision on G21 vs G23. Ended up with a new 15 G21. Couldn't be happier. The final drivers for me were:

          1) With the redesign of the 16 G23, I preferred to get a 2016 which limited my inventory options and I didn't want to order
          2) Price - a dealer wanted to move a leftover 2015
          3) We surf 90% of the time and were very impressed w the surf wave (still trying to get it dialed in though).
          4) Space - our lake is not big so 21' is plenty

PM me if you want more details.

          Good luck!

The new H6 450hp in the new '16 is more than 99% of people will ever need. That's the motor I would get for sure if going with a '16. There are a ton more upgrades besides that like JL audio now standard and slightly redesigned hull characteristics. Comes down to the deal you get on a '15 better be well worth it to not get the '16 imo.

I really like the gel-coat scheme on the 2016s with the chevron that sweeps to the rear and comes back to a point at the rear of the boat. Very cool looking IMO (compared with previous year G boats) and almost worth the extra money for the 2016. Not to mention that JL Audio is a HUGE upgrade IMO.

I am going back and forth on new and used for the reason you mentioned. Any suggestions on used route options?

for your answer on price: http://www.seedealercost.com/boats

for your answer on used vs new: if you absolutely have to have certain options/colors then spend the money to get a new, or if you get to the 20% plus off MSRP range. Otherwise go to http://www.onlyinboards.com/ and find a '15 or'14 that looks like a good fit, offer YOUR price and negotiate from there

My river we ride on part time ranges in the 10'-14' area for most of our run and the surf wave holds good enough for the most part. as for not I typically use "surf" settings and ride a Phase 5 Trident plus Im 6'4" 260 so if you have better numbers than all of those then you should be fine

The more I learn and the longer I own a boat the more I affirm the single most important consideration is the dealer, his reputation and long term service. Just because it's a Nautique does not gaurantee good customer service.

                          considerations in priority order:

                          1. Dealer quality, reputation and service

^^^ country mile here between 1 and 2

                          2. Performance

                          3. Brand

                          4. Model, options, price amenities, styling etc

You need 14ft+ in a slammed G to avoid messing up your surf wave. You start to notice it at 12-13... Goes flat at 10-12
