    Tower Rattle

My new to me 2014 SAN 230 has a fairly significant rattle in the starboard side tower base. We were out in some fairly choppy water tonight and I noticed it. I assume these towers shouldn't make much noise if any? This is my first V-Drive/Nautique. Any thoughts? Quick fix?

Mine is 100% silent. Have you dropped it to see if there's anything inside that may need tightening?

I dropped it last night to look....the only thing I can move in there is the big pins that the locking mechanism grips? But it seems they wouldn't move at all once you lock it down.

Does anyone have intimate knowledge of these towers that can point me where to look? This rattle drives me nuts.

I've had them apart for paint work. My first thoughts are checking the bolts that assemble the base and the base to boat bolts. The interior vynl wrap part will just pull off like a seat back or lower elm cover. It's held with the Christmas tree push pins and under there will be Allen bolts. You could check there if you believe it's not something up high like the Bimini. Then the base to boat bolts are a real pain to get to but basically just through bolt. You might also check helm cable that runs down that side of the boat. It's supposed to have a foam pad to help w chatter.

Thanks! I will do some more inspecting today. I was wondering about access to it and now have a better idea. I really believe it's coming from the base of the tower. I had my wife drive and I listened as we went and I think I pinpointed it down.

Any chance it's coming from the pins that hold the Bimini down?
