It sure sounds like something is malfunctioning with the surf mode. When you decide to surf and select 'surf' on the user settings, that activates the NSS and also limits how fast you can go. It is called Surf mode. It sounds like your NSS is not working when you did that, but that surf mode would not turn off so you could not go any faster. Just guessing, but the dealer should have given you a demo before you purchased and this problem should have been discovered.
I've never heard of the tank being unable to fill, that is just strange. On my 2015, there is a check valve on the fuel lines, but I have not known it to lock up.
Did you try to switch sides while surfing, and did the screen show that it switched? How many hours are on this boat?
That is what it felt like - I was pretty neutral in the plate and wave vert setting @ 3 and then started to tweak them thinking I was going to pull off some holiday miracle. Anyhow for descriptive purpose here is a pic of the wake it was throwing. 140 hours on boat.
Sounds and looks to me like the "surf" setting wasn't on. Just because you have a surf profile selected doesn't mean it will be in surf mode. I learned this the first day with my boat as well. Couldn't understand why the wave wouldn't form and then as soon as I hit the button, BOOM, awesome surf wave.

Yea your NSS either isn't working properly or it wasn't turned on. You have to select that in your user profile for NSS to be active.
If you couldn't plane....at 12/13....you were still in Surf Mode or your Speed Control was still on at that speed. From that pic above, the way it hooks to the right on the foam......looks like it was "Starting" to form the wave.....but not quite there. Get someone from the dealer to go out with you.
Man - I wish I could figure how to quickly multi quote on this forum - anyhow to the previous three posters - yes you all have valid points that I am investigating. Super wierd how when you are in the boat with no one there everything is smooth and then all **** breaks loose when it is hot and people are all over the place. At any rate I had the trailer completely worked over today at our local shop. Starting from the ground up. Dealer is going to look at the boat on Tuesday and I will post up results - whatever they may be. I really appreciate again all of the input on this forum. I am an active poster on another boating site which is pretty awesome but they are taking to water sports boats a little slow.
I get a hard time for taking this boat into the fray but I really like it.
Anyhow here is a cool pic from my other boating last weekend (I like to stand up jetski and paddle board as well) - the vessel view reading are a little different than in a Nautique - This is still just above cruising..
What kind of boat is that. Pic is a bit unclear.....is that 119 mph? or 69.2 mph. Wouldn't surprise me to see 119 at Havasu. Family friend had a Daytona Eliminator with a Johnson V8 Outboard that use to give us rides in. Sucked your face back at about 102....lol

That pic is off of a DCB m31 Instagram #pointtopoint_m31 - is @119 and the boat goes a pretty good more but there are a bunch on the lake much faster. Eliminators are cool boats. Cat boats are just a different style of boating. I have two little guys and they are pretty active. They are a major reason I bought a Nautique.
Well guys / gals - dealer looked over the boat, serviced it and lake tested it. Everything checked out OK. They filled up ballast drained filled up the aux tanks and had boat up to 42 MPH. NSS and plate etc checked out. So I guess I am crazy and do not know how to operate my boat. Relived that nothing serious is wrong with it other than the driver. Taking it out this weekend and have been getting some good things to try from this forum so I will report back when I can get the wake to setup. Cheers.
First suggestion for this weekend, don't fiddle with the surf settings. Just run it as it is set from the factory, just hit the surf button, select YES for activate the pumps, and pick your side. Done. Once you see what you have and get used to it then maybe fiddle with it but IMHO the way the surf is set from the factory is just fine for me. Have fun!
As mentioned it looks like NSS was turned off. We took ours in for the 25 hr service last year and I think they did a software upgrade. First time we tried surfing it looked like that and it was because it was off.
IMO, the factory surf settings are terrible - it's way too slow. I like it at 11.6, NSS at 2 and NCRS at 5 with ballast full. Factory surf settings on the 2016 might be ok.
Also, I sometimes forget to turn the spead control off which might be why your speed was capping out at 12-13 mph. Not sure if that applied to your situation or not.
Well guys - I just want to close this thread out. Complete driver error. (I hope this drops deep into PN forum que ) I was hitting buttons must have popped into some kind of manual mode over filled stock ballast and was going into aux ballast. Boat was overloaded and could not push weight at end of day. Hence the not able to plane. Back to dock mode was being over ridden by me. I was basically thrashing. Ran the boat today with wife and my little guys no ballast. Had a great day. First time they were in the boat and they had a great day and they love it. Killer ride. Looking forward to many more days on the water on this boat and watching the boys grow into it. Appreciate all of the help in this thread from you all. Will keep researching proper setup on surf and wake board settings - a lot of good information here - really good stuff. Cheers all - enjoy the weekend.
