A normal summer for me on my I/O would be 50 hours. After 2 weekends with my new SAN230 I have 30 hours. I am loving the boat....especially love the smooth operation of the H5. The commitment to quality on this boat is awesome. Just a quick question...no laughing please....I am not used to putting an inboard on my Shore Station. It has been windy the last two weekends and I have come to the realization that the boat drifts more than my I/O and I need to run it on the lift faster. That's a tough concept for me in waters that are moving.....Run my brand new boat at the ShoreStation post and hope the wind makes me land in the center?

You'll have to learn how to "bump" in and out of gear going forward and use your reverse to slow yourself down/keep straight. You'll eventually learn how to use prop torque to your advantage, as it can allow you to move either the bow or stern without much steering input.Try going to a calm spot and play around with your boat, moving in and out of gear, using short bursts of power to make adjustments, etc... You'll get a feel for it, I'm sure. As I once read about docking speed, go in only as fast as you're comfortable hitting the dock. In any case, congrats on the new boat!! And don't forget the 50 hour oil change!!Current : 2000 Pro Air Nautique, Silver&Black accents, pulled by 2012 black Chevy Tahoe

Yup. Learn how to bump the throttle. Put it in gear take it out.....put it in gear take it out. That's how you approach the lift. Come in off center to left just a touch. Then wen you need to go to reverse to slow up it will pull you transom and bow over to the right. Viola
once you get it figured out and understand how to use the pull of the engine you will find its much easier to handle.
