2004 SAN210 TE Ballast Pumps Keep Shutting Off, SLOW FILLING!

    Hey Guys,

Would love to get your input on an issue I've been having with my ballast system. Here's my setup:

    - Rear: 2 750lb Fatsac (removed internal tanks) with 2 1200 gph pumps
    - Front: Internal tank with OEM pump.
    - 3 naturally closed solenoids that open on fill only (replaces the manual valves under the dash)

    Problem:
Whenever I'm filling they're incredibly slow. Also, they shut off all the time without me actually turning them off. I look at the controls on the dash and the lights turn off (the breakers don't pop, the pumps just shut off). This happens to all three.

Any ideas why this is happening? I have the biggest Optima Bluetop (deep cycle) and the biggest Optima Redtop hooked up through a perko that are Brand New so power shouldn't be a problem..

Also, any pumps you might recommend for filling that are better than the tsunami's?

2004? Do you need to replace the impeller on the pump? 12 years old. That's what I would do.

I don't think so.. The fill and drain pumps (tsunamis) are less than a year old.

Tsunamis are aerator pumps so no impeller like a Jabsco or Ballast Puppy. Can you put your hand on them while they are running? Are they getting hot? i'm not aware that the Tsunamis have thermal cutouts. Could your solenoids be contributing to your issue somehow? Can you bypass them in a test scenario?

Check your manual valves behind the rear seat and make sure they are all the way open. Only other issue would be priming the pumps. Get the boat up to speed for a second to prime the pumps and then it should fill like normal as long as valves are open.

So all three pumps, two updated in rear and factory in front, cut off at the same time? Did this happen after you added the solenoid valves in the rear? Worked through some of these issues recently myself on an 03.

No, only one shuts off at a time since each is hooked up to it's own breaker. To be honest I can't remember if it happened before I added the solenoid valves. The solenoid valves are on all 3 tanks (replaced the factory manual valves). Pretty sure that it did it before as well.
