So when does the collision avoidance system and auto parallel park come out . Maybe I am the end all of inboard drivers or my boats are somehow different than all the other inboards out there. I don't see the problem? Unless you are in high wind or currant [in those cases that system wont help ] you should have no problem backing or docking with a little practice. Any one get a price on that system ? I will guess 10k minimum. I saw MC was putting bow thrusters on their big barge like boats maybe they should concentrate on building a well designed hull and stop with all the high priced jewelry to try and make it work.

I sort of agree with Nautiquehunter... There is a certain skill that you need to operate a boat, especially an inboard ski/wake boat. Yes, manufacturers are always looking for ways to lure new customers, and I am sure this will get a few.... Personally (imo), I think there are too many things now that are reinforcing not paying attention or mastering a skill. The collision avoidance on my truck (didn't even realize it had it when a bought) has been malfunctioning starting 3 months after I got it.... And is the root cause behind my recent lemon law claim... Thank god this was not a system that auto brakes or steers the vehicle....
With this backup system (I've seen it up close), it just looks like more things to maintain in the future.... imo

This further shows that MC is after the luxury bowrider crowd and has slowly been moving away from the core watersport enthusiast. Their boats are lackluster compared to others on the market and under-perform. They try to draw in those coming from a Cobalt or Regal and this further confirms that. Not a bad business move, and maybe im just old school, but i will laugh at anyone with this system.
MCs distinction between i/o and inboard is slowly disappearing, in both quality and function. This is what happens with a venture capital group owning the company, they only care about market share to appease shareholders.Last edited by wakerider107; 06-24-2016, 02:57 PM.2012 SANTE 230

K.I.S.S. - keep it simple stupid. Great idea to lure in I/O customers, but from a service/replacement standpoint this would be a nightmare. I assume they are running an extra steering cable/ hydro hoses to the rudders so extra maint. and if someone decides to tear the rudders off it wouldn't most likely be a very $$$ repair. With the new forward facing I/O's this will be a tough up-sell to the luxury IO market.

I'm happy to see that Mastercraft came out with that and I'm anxious to see how it evolves over the next few years with all the manufacturers.
Most of us have little or no problem backing up our boats in our normal operating routine but backing off of a trailer or boat lift when there is a good wind blowing from the port side and there is another boat on our starboard side, it would be nice being able to back up straight. Also, operating slowly around other boats and having some waves moving you around, better control in reverse could be very helpful.
Again, most of us get by with our limited ability to steer in reverse but virtually all of us could benefit at times if our boats were better at it.Previously: 2015 SAN 210
