    Washy G23 wake

Curious if anyone else's wake is washy on the wake novice settings for a 2016 G23. No ballast at 20 mph my starboard side is clean, but the port side is still a mess. I have 400 lbs of Lead Wake bags that I move around, but still can't dial it in.

What prop are your running. Try adding some to the port rear tank to balance or moving some of those bags to the port side. It needs some weight to counterbalance the prop torque

try having 150 to 200 pounds more in the port rear trunk than on the starboard side to even out the wakes (300 port/100 Starboard for starters)

yes, the standard settings are not perfect. You have to tune them for yourself. I have the same with the wakeboard medium settings, way to fast and just one side is good with all tanks half full.

Once you have the weight figured out is it sensitive to people movement. If one person switches sides of the boat is it going to make a difference.

It is very tough to get a clean wake at that low of speed for wake boarding, I run my son at 22 only because its a nice clean wake, but he thinks its to fast.

Thats crazy. One of my friends is pretty good and can do a bunch of inverts and rides at 21. He has a malibu, so different boat, but the wake is super clean.

If you want to ride that slow, dump all the weight out & ride with no ballast and your wake should be good. Youre in a G23, thats a huge boat, riding at 20mph is sort of silly. IF you're concerned about going slow 18-20mph, then you should have no reason whatsoever to have any weight on the boat at all either.

I agree. I don't fill the ballast ,I use the wake novice setting which is 20 mph and no ballast filled. The only extra weight that I have is the 400bs of lead wake that I purchased because I had read about the G lean due to the prop spin. Only fill the ballast to surf.

Malibus are known for clean wakes at slow speeds, but their also known for not being near as badass wake machines as the G boats are!

You can tune the wake of a G to do that, just the presettings on the linc are not configured out of the box for it.

Sounds like you need to ditch the lead weight until you get more advanced. No reason why you can't use use 400# of water that you don't have to move manually.

You just need more weight on port side. Keep adding until it cleans up. Use people if you have them. If no people, I use 2 150 lbs water bags that have handles on them so I can move them if needed.

I pull young kids of varying skill levels. My youngest and most inexperienced I pull at 17.8 no ballast NSS at 0. This can only be done with up to about 4 people in the boat. If we have more people than that I will shift people constantly and may speed up to 18. With these settings we have achieved a nice wake for a very novice rider. Sounds like you might need to consider removing the added weight and move a person to the port side and the wake should clean up nicely. For a novice/intermediate kid ie: basic wake to wake skill set I will run NSS 5 150port/150starboard/200bow ballast and 19-19.5 mph. We have a very clean wake at this speed and settings with up to 4 people in the boat. If we have more people I will remove some of the ballast. You can achieve an great wake at slow speeds with a G. The only thing that works against a good wake at a slow speed is extra weight. Also, look at your wake at slower speeds a shorter rope will work much better for a young rider IMO and the wake is cleaner closer to the boat. If you have a very novice rider a 55 ft rope will help to give you a clean wake as well.
