In surf mode, NCRS is configurable without turning the Auto/High setting off. I recommend leaving it set this way at all times.

and just run NCRS 5 plowing water everywhere you go? Even when you aren't doing water sports?
throwng roughly twice the wake everywhere you go, wasting fuel and limiting visibility from now rise? Not everyone is 6'3".
i recommend absokutely not to. Crank the NCRS up when you need it.

There are times when I am sure that the NCRS does absolutely nothing, then times I think it does something. I drove around some with it both on Auto and then doing it manually and I am pretty sure that my manual NCRS does nothing at all. Before I come on here and go all ape crazy, I planned on playing with it on a flat water day so I can assess the wake as well as the
planing capacity.
Sorry about the hijack, but the point being that having an Auto NCRS that works is very helpful when your power is not quite sufficient.

What's your cruise speed? If you're on a busy lake like me... Likely 23-25 mph, you can't run 30+ across my lake unless you want to lose your fillings. NCRS at 5 still works at those 25mph speeds, requires 2-300 more Rpm than NCRS 0.
hey I'm all about if if folks want to deal with the bow rise, bigger wake and wasted fuel just getting across the lake.
i just don't want a Natique engineer to jump on here and read that and make it that way all the time.
i'd like the Nautique engineers to make Auto NCRS for surf speeds.2019 G23 450

NCRS at 5 means that the plate is fully-retracted, allowing the bow to come out of the water. Running NCRS at 0 is lifting the back of the boat, but pushing the bow down. That would certainly make the boat plow more than running NCRS at 5 at speed.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. nyryan, I would have to think at speeds 25 and up, the boat would be planed off, and to lower rpm and increase fuel usage, you would want as much hull out of the water as possible. That would be the 5 setting. That is were the plate goes in the "auto" position at those speeds. Have not checked the rpm on my boat at 25 mph with ncrs at 0 then at 5, but my guess is it will be less in the 5 setting as compared to the 0 setting that has the bow lower and more hull in the water.
maybe these boats are different, and getting the rear of boat out the water with bow lower is more efficient with rpm and fuel. Someone would have to check . If so , then the 0 setting would be better for cruising, and you could see better as well. I don't think that is the case though.2016 G23

guys go run your boats and verify. NCRS 5, plate retracted...is much less efficient, bow high, higher RPM at 5. Much bigger wake.
NCRS isn't a magic technology. It's a center trim tab that's all. Same as what's been used on planing boats for 50yrs.
the G hull is shaped so that without this NCRS plate extended, pushed down, the curved G hull runs bow high and throws a huge wake. NCRS 0 = extended, pushes the plate down = bow down and more efficient prop angle, less rpms, and smaller wake.
Cheers, enjoy.

Also... Time a 0-25mph with full ballast launch with your auto NCRS at 5... And then do it again at NCRS 0. Roughly ~3+ seconds faster at 0 as your auto NCRS kicks in around 16mph and drags the hull.
also, launching on NCRS 0 until after 20+mph will allow you to carry another ~500lbs vs running auto NCRS 5.
i was running full 2850 ballast, + 8 adults, + another 2-3000in ballast. The big issue that allows a faster launch and carry more weight is the more efficient prop angle at NCRS 0. Cranking up to 5 after 20mph is fine. But if you hit the wall and get stuck at 15-18... Bring the NCRS back to 0 and watch what happens when carrying real heavy weights.Last edited by nyryan2001; 07-03-2016, 08:02 AM.2019 G23 450

No, NCRS zero = down = default position, bow down, smaller wake, more efficient. 5 is retracted, allows bow high.. Or cranked up perse, big wake.
I think Jeff has it 100% wrong. And I only want NCRS 5 when I'm wanting to throw big wakes.
food for thought.... If I were wrong... Why does auto NCRS at 5 go to zero under ~15mph? Cuz it's most efficient, allows a faster and easier launch with heavier weights.2019 G23 450
