Make wake smaller for 5 yr old on a G23?

We have a 2015 G23 as well as a five year old that loves wakeboarding and is starting to do small jumps. I currently pull him around 17, full belly ballast, and the NCRS at 0. Is there a general rule of thumb for how to make the wakeboard wake smaller and/or how to get it to clean up at slower speeds?

    Thanks!

Hahahaha! Just kidding, but I think that is not going happen... That boat was designed TO make a wake... At 5, I bet he disappears behind the wake.
Awesome that he's into it though!!

Have you tried putting him on a longer rope?

Does the wash get washy without the belly ballast full?

I did same thing at 5 years old with 2 of my girls with the G23. I found 17.5 or faster with a very short rope 50-55 ft with no or very little belly ballast worked the best for us. We also used a NCRS of 0 and got a reasonable wake. At the end of the day the G is a heavy boat that makes a large wave especially at slow speeds so the less additional weight the better. Good news is kids don't have that much to compare to so they are not as fearful of large wake. However, if they get on another boat with a smaller wake after learning on the G I bet they will charge it like a pro.

"Does the wash get washy without the belly ballast full?" - Yes it was, filling the belly seemed to flatten out the wake a bit.
"Have you tried putting him on a longer rope?" - I may experiment with that, but the wake is pretty long, not sure I want him riding 120' off. :-)

I'll continue to experiment with different ballast and NCRS combos, but he's charging the wake pretty hard so this will probably be a moot point by the time I figure it out...!

              Appreciate any other suggestions!
