Recently I have been attempting to build one of the suction cup style surf systems that a lot of the guys on Mastercraft Team Talk have been doing but I am having a really hard time getting mine to stay stuck to the side of the boat. As far as I know, I'm the only one attempting this on a 230 so I'm curious to know if maybe the shape of the 230 hull is what is causing the suction cups to come off so easily. Have any other 230 owners tried this? Has anyone tried this on any newer Nautique at all? Thoughts, pictures, or suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks.

Are you using the aluminum handle or the plastic version? I have heard people having problems with the plastic ones falling off. I have not had any problems with my aluminum handle falling off but I also have a much different hull than yours.Shawn

try putting pressure on it when you lock it down, you get much better suction, also, I've seen people drill holes in the base to allow air and water to escape behind the suction cup, not sure if that makes any difference, but worth a try.

Tried both the holes and putting pressure. The plastic one didn't hold up. Metal one works better hands down and only costs a few bucks more.

How was the wave? When I used my suck gate it was not nearly as good as when I was listed.

2010 230 owner. I made one with aluminum handle and don't have an issue with it coming off. I've only played with it a few times and haven't been thrilled with the results... I have it set up at the very back of the hull... Maybe I need to experiment with it further forward...
