I've also read that the suck gate works best installed as far back as you can put it on the hull. Only thing to add now is a small tether in case its doesn't float!

I built a suck gate a couple of weeks ago. Bought all parts off Amazon and then some stainless hardware from the local hardware store. I did mine a bit adjustable, so can go from 45, 77ish, and 90 degrees. I have tank busted so run 750s in the back lockers and then the center hard tank. Best results for me seem to be with the plate at 77, speed 10.5, and an extra 750 filled up in the center above the ski locker. I think having almost 1500# in the back makes the boat a bit too tail heavy. I try to get the plate so that it is back at least below the drain holes as some of the pics here have shown. My plate is only 8" wide, so may make a bigger plate to see if that makes a difference.

Positioning it up and down differently made a difference, so I need to get it set about 2" above the step in the hull. But it tends to also depend on how much ballast and people I am running, so I am guessing that the depth below the water line is making a difference in how clean the lip is.

If I go down to the 45 position, I seem to get a big more push, but a sloppier wave.

That said, it is so much better than before. I don't need to overload one side, and I can now surf when it is just my wife and daughter out with me. It used to take a couple extra people to get the boat listed enough. so nice to be flat and not worry as much about getting extra people in the boat. The plate does seem to splash lots of water into the vent, so my bilge will run as we slowly throw water into the boat. May need to think about a vent cover or something to solve that.

The below pic is with no ballast as mine is not working at the moment although I do have all the parts sitting in a box... Also 3 people in the boat on the starboard side and suck gate on portside all the way aft and as low as possible. Was big enough for my 11 year old to surf with no rope but not for me at a 200 lbs.

Thanks. As mentioned above by dfoster you can purchase most of the parts from amazon or ebay. Probably cost me around Aud$100 and a few hours of my time to assemble. I had the HDPE supplied and cut by a local engineering company, purchased the suction cups from ebay and bought some SS screws. I've now fixed a lanyard which I'll attach to the rear cleat of the boat so I can't loose it.

Typo on my post... "That big of a bag.." I didn't know you could put 1100lb bags in an SV211.

It was part of a Sirius Satellite radio a previous owner had on there. Nothing used or functional anymore. I want to take it off some day but not sure what to patch over the hole with.

After seeing these results I went ahead and built my own suction handle wake enhancer, completely thrilled with the results.

Wake with full ballast plus 1200lbs of weight in the boat weighted evenly (assumed surfing condition):

Wake with suction diverter on starboard side as far back and as low as possible:

The materials were sourced from Amazon for less than $40:
                            https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
                            https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The handle is the basic professional glass handle, the plastic is 1/2" seaboard, this piece is 12" x 24" and it's just about the right amount of material

A used a band saw, a circular saw, a table saw, and a jig saw to build mine but the jig saw with a coarse metal blade cuts this stuff like butter so I would just use that if you have a steady hand. To hold the side pieces to the suction handle I used 2 - 4" 1/2-20 stainles carriage bolts with nylok nuts, to secure the plate to the sides I used 4 1.5" #10 sheet metal screws. I bought a bunch of extra hardware to assemble this gadget but this ended up being plenty strong so I will leave it as is and return the leftover hardware to OSH.

hey Mikeski, do you have any shots of it on the boat? I just wanted to see where people could get it mounted to their SV211 hulls. I felt like I wanted it farther back but couldn't because of curvature near the stern
