New PCM engine ZR4?

I finally got to see some pics of the new GS20 and noticed the standard engine is listed as a "ZR4" what's that? I couldn't find it on the Nautique nor PCM sites....

Yep, from what I understand, it is the 6.0L 409 HP engine. The link above is to an older version of that engine, but it is essentially the same engine.

Thanks guys, I've never seen that engine called that. I've seen ZR6, ZR390,et.al,
So is the "standard" engine in the G series now the ZR4? If so, it's got more HP, more displacement and closed cooling than the first "option" engine? I'd be looking at the sales guy like my boxers look at me when they want a snack...

No. The G23, and G25 come standard with the H6 6.2L this year. The only upgrade option for those is the 550.

The G21 comes standard with the H5, with the H6 and the 550 as upgrade options.

The GS20, 200, 210 and 230 come standard with the ZR4, with the H5 and H6 as upgrade options.

How is the ZR4 different than the ZR6? They look to be the same

probably just marketing - they probably dont want people to "upgrade" from a 6 (zr6) to a 5 (H5) and then back to a 6 (H6). Im kind of surprised they kept the closed cooling though.

It has a cast iron block with aluminum heads. It has to have closed cooling.

So the ZR4 will replace the 343 as the base engine in the 200, 210, and 230? I hope this is true. My local dealer and most of the near by dealers order the 230 with the 343 which in my opinion is the wrong engine for a 230.

It will be a hard sell to get people to spend more money to "upgrade" from the 409 hp ZR4 to the 355 hp H5. Even with DI and better fuel economy most people will not choose the H5 over the ZR4 IMO.
