I was actually contacted about this when it first happened a couple of months ago to help determine year and model of the boat so that they could track the guy down. I think they got him if I remember correctly.

Just from looking at it pass....It was a 1999 Air Nautique with a 2000 tower that was probably available early or put on the 99. Funny thing about the title of this post....it WAS tied down.....should have said "Make sure to secure tightly".......

The rider survived and was expected to make a full recovery if I remember correctly. I also heard that the boat owner turned himself in.

My pet peeve is boards in the racks. I know they seem really stable, but 65 MPH with someone following closely is so much different than 35 MPH on the water with nobody near that close.

The water mat should definitely have been secured better, but it also looks like the motorcycle was following a little too close also. Glad he is okay.

Yep, velocity is squared in that equation....for due to wind that is...not sure that I captured the intent of this post...can't delete
