    Coastal Edition

Can anybody tell me EXACTLY what the Coastal Edition package contains? I would suspect full freshwater cooling, but the description only says freshwater engine flush. It also mentions a different steering cable, stainless shocks for hatches, and a different coating on the tower. I am looking at a new 230 and will run mostly in saltwater, so I don't mind spending the $$, but only if it is truly worth it. The base ZR4 motor is already freshwater cooled, and I have run this engine for 9 years in my 211 without issue, so I am ok staying with it again. Any info is helpful. Thanks

Motor/Trans mount adjusters are stainless also.
Anodes on drive shaft Rudder and everything outside.
motor coating is supposed to be better.

Things I'm not impressed with- motor mount part that attaches to hull is not stainless and coating could be better.
They use lower grade stainless on some things and hinges will rust if not maintained.
My seat slider is not stainless- I removed and installed stainless sliders.

My coastal has the flush hookup on back .

Steering is great with the costal package

Engine is closed cooling never sees salt

I'm sure there is more but these are some that I noticed from mine.

Which engine do you have? Are the manifolds cooled as well as the block, or just the block? What year boat and model? Thanks, I'm considering a 230 with the zr4 motor

        343 motor.
Exhaust manifolds get salt water. That's what you flush out every trip.
I belive all motors models are similar with manifolds getting salt water.

That is my concern. Systems exist which cool the manifolds as well. The ZR4 is already closed loop cooling, so the $5k for the coastal edition is a waste. I'm wary of the new engines. I was burned by PCM in 1994 by their first gen fuel injection. I also don't see how going from a 6.0l to a 5.3l motor is an upgrade in power, especially at elevation or heavily weighted.

If you get a Costal also.....
Rear deck lid has 2 drains to catch water seeping in between deck covers.

However they drain right on top the ballast pumps. How stupid is that....

I drilled bigger holes and put hose barbs in then 3'of hose to bottom of hull.
