    Young kids behind the G23

I'm in the market for a new boat and comparing the G23 to the 24 MXZ/M235. Our oldest child is 7. We've got him skiing on connected skis and he loves it, but we haven't tried wakeboarding yet. We also have a 4 year old that will be coming along too.

So my question is -- how is the G23 wake and surf is for younger kids? What speeds and settings would you use for little ones?
    Thanks

For 5 years old beginners, they stay behind and do not jump, so the wake is irrelevant. What I try when they are comfortable going left and right is to have a clean wake at the lowest speed possible. I start at 8-9 mph for 4-5 years old, at this speed there is no clean wake in any boat. at 15 mph I can get one side only clean wake. However, they are not here now.

My 7 year old (who is tiny) surfs my 2016 G23. I simply don't fill any ballast. NCRS at 5 and NSS at 0. 10.5 mph.

The wave is plenty to push a 7 year old.

For wakeboarding, I would do the same. No ballast and just use NCRS and speed to clean up the wake.

Buy the Nautique and you'll have a boat that will suit your needs for many years. Way less warranty issue if you go with the Nautique.

Not always the case. Our 4 year old is going in and out of the wake and charging it with some authority. Granted, this is at 13.5mph and like stated earlier, there is no boat out there that will produce a clean wake at that speed. However, if they charge the wake, even with the wash, they start learning a little about pop and stability.

Our 6 year old is at about 15.5mph. If we speed up just a bit, the wake gets clean but is a bit lippy, he likes the wash over that big lip. Soon we will just have to go to 17+ and put the wash behind us. I find the G to be very good at slower speeds given it's wake making potential.

As someone else said, don't worry about the slow speeds and wash, they will still learn. Buy a boat that has the potential for the future.

              Lion90,

Definitively better than my kids at the same age .

I guess if you have a Shaun White wakeboard version as a kid, he or she will land 360s while still drinking her or his baby bottle.

Your video is excellent as it shows what the wave looks like for kids and what a jump looks like too. Some might believe you begin directly with big air jumps like the pro .
