Surf wave comparison on 2014-current 230 vs 2016-current g23, STOCK ballast

Looking for feedback on which surf wake is better on the models mentioned above with ONLY the stock ballast (230 with the stock wake pro package though). If you think one is better, can you give a rough estimate on what % better it is than the other boat. I have read a lot of feedback with added ballast so I am not looking for that. If it matters, let's say three people total in the boat while surfing. So really looking for people who know both stock waves and what percent better they think the better wave is over the other.

I have not been on a 230, but I think you should be able to easily figure out which one works best for you by having your dealer take you out on both boats. Make the guy work for your paycheck.

It might also depend on goofy vs. regular...which side are you looking at?

I would be looking for information for both sides, or even just a general opinion on which has the better surf wave.. Also, I know "best" will vary with many variables but it would be helpful just to hear from people which one they like better and what % better.

If ur going pure factory and NO additional weight, my assumption is a G (I own a 230)....depends if ur willing to put up the extra $ for the perks of having a G. IMHO

The G is a way heavier boat plus has more stock ballast so it should be easy to figure it out. If you like the look (or are willing to deal with it), have the room and want to spend the extra coin, you gotta go with the G. Aren't there any threads on PN like 230 vs G23?

There is a good amount of information on the 230/g23 in a good amount threads (which has helped a lot) but really trying to get fairly specific feedback from those who have seen both these waves from the year models listed above, with their stock ballast.

If you've done enough homework to narrow your purchase decision down to these two, I'd say you're sitting in a good spot without much else to do other than go for two rides. You'll be happy with either boat.

Yep. As long as you know you're going to buy one or the other from your dealer, you shouldn't feel bad about making him work for it. Have him take you out in both as much as you need to make a good decision. Now after you work him like that, I would feel obligated to buy from him.

                        In my experience,
The G is way easier to surf out of the box. The G has a bigger wave with more push.
There is less difference on the goofy side though.
I like my 2014 230 wave better than a stock G now that I've swapped Pro Ballast 400 rear bags for 750s.
It now has the push we were looking for, and I think the pocket is longer.

I have to agree... adding 750s to the back of a 230 makes a HUGE difference. Hard to beat the surf wave...... think about it: both boats are 23', the wave can't be that different. And the 230 isn't the ugly duckling to the G. It is an absolutely gorgeous boat that will turn heads ALL day long. If you need the added storage and a better wakeboard wave, then go for a G. Otherwise, the 230 is the boat for you!!

Just my $0.02 (thats Canadian Dollars which is worth nothing really!)
