I have two 200# under the mid seats (1 port and 1 starboard) and a 350# bag under the bow seats. This leaves the rear compartments fully open for storage and also keep the G weighted the way it wants to be. Each mid bag is on its own pump and switch, and the bow is on its own pump and switch...keeps fill and drain time to a minimum. With these three bags filled on top of the full factory ballast it increases the wave height a bit but definitely adds noticeable push when surfing. I also have 200# of Lead weight on port side in large observer seat compartment to offset prop.

To answer your question on thoughts of where to put 500# of Lead weight only, my recommendation is to put 250# on each side under mid seats as far forward as possible. (This doesn’t include the 200# to 250# on port side for prop rotation)

I have two other friends who are active on this forum who are surfing a 16 g23 and 17 g23 on SML as well... I have seen videos of people on their wave and it has the same valley coming off of the back. Its just odd to see people add MORE weight to the rear on these boats when I'm the only one who thinks less is better lol. Our buddy has his 17 Mojo tied up on our dock, I'll see if I can get a good shot behind both boats while on the wave so its a bit more clear on what I'm talking about.
Also to note I did have the 300 lbs of lead up front at the bow before I moved it to the rear starboard locker (150 lbs) and rear port locker (150 lbs) and left the 250 lbs under the observer seat unchanged and as a result it did make the wake firm up better and larger. I had NSS at 0 and NCRS at 5 and all ballasts filled .

FullmetalHeart I like more weight up front also on my 17 g23. Don't know the exact set up but probably an additional 300 up front with maybe 200 under the passenger seat. We run NCRS at 2 and NSS at 0 usually. 99% of the time we ride skimboards so we don't search for a big steep wave...

There are a few different G set ups here also - https://wakesurfnation.com/boats/nautique-boats/ (including Drew Danielos)

Takes more than 30 hrs and more surf experience to know what you like for sure. But its all preference and what style board you like better as well.

That's a good point. I might actually buy a smaller surf style board as well for those days when I want to ride a steeper wave.

I get some people prefer steeper waves or a longer mellow wave but we're getting close to the 30 hour mark and honestly I still don't have a good feel for the boat.

Coming from a 16 Mojo with 1100 rears and a 750 in the floor. It had a long but medium height wave. The G is steeper for sure on 100% ballast 0 NSS 5 NCRS @ 11.2-11.6... but there is this awkward valley coming off of the corner of the boat that I tried to mark in the picture, at first I thought it was the swim platform, but the cavitation of water starts on the port side of the hull around the tower. The Mojo had a smooth transition from lake surface to the face of the wave, the G has almost a half pipe that comes a couple feet off of the corner. Most people that have never surfed a G but can surf come off of the wave and nose right into a wipe out....

Bought a 400lb sac for the nose and it actually helped reduce the halfpipe and get closer to a smooth transition. I can almost eliminate it by stopping port and starboard tanks at 50% running 100% up front. It reduces the SIZE of the wave, but overall I feel its a cleaner transition. Yes I have messed with NSS, NCRS and adjusted speed. No settings make a difference in the valley coming off the back. Only less weight in the rear or more weight in the front reduce this "half pipe"

Does anyone else feel notice this? I haven't had a chance to get on the board with my go pro in my hands, its obvious from the surfers perspective, a bit harder to see from inside the boat.

On my 13 that valley disappears when changing the NCRS. Essentially its a better version of a wakeplate and when it actuates downwards it puts lift on the transom and down goes the bow, so the effect is similar to that of more bow weight, but yes that's something I noticed immediately going from my 230 to the G23.
If your not noticing a huge difference when changing the NCRS from 1-5 then you'd outta get that looked at because to me the difference is night and day.....

Also.... don't underestimate the impact a 60/40 to 70/30ish lean to the sirgside can have surfing a G23.

my monster waves are at 11.6-12mph with the bow at approx 15-20deg tilt below horizon

                    2013 G23 450 with stock prop running 11.4-11.7 NCRS 5 NSS 0

Running 750s in the rear lockers and 1000lb in the bow, Internal is full but using the rear stock tanks to offset left-right weight distribution since it's easy to adjust. We're all riding skim-style so the wave is setup to not be a huge and steep wall of water, and this is why we run a good amount of weight in the bow to give a lot of length and tons of push.

Planning to plumb the rear lockers into the stock system with Y-valve this winter and possibly figure out a situation for the bow. Anyone using fat sac underseat bow bag in the front? I don't think it will fill fully but I'm interested in trying it out.

As for the bow, just use lead maybe?
