2016 G23 Engine Noise

We took delivery of our beautiful new 2016 G23 this week and squeezed in a quick run to the lake for launch, cruise and wakeboard/surf session. Some pics attached. More to come soon in the "check out my new boat!" forum.

One critique that arose was the engine/exhaust decibel level at 26+ mph. We have a three month old that rides in the boat so we're sensitive to her developing ears. I thought the boat was quite loud. We have the H6 450.

We're on a pretty big lake so we spend a fair amount if time commuting and cruising at these speeds.

Is this due to the surf pipe? The noise bouncing around the cabin and bimini? Any solutions out there or should we just suck it up and enjoy the new boat?

Other than that this boat is near flawless. What a machine!!!!

Mine doesn't seem to be overly loud at that speed. At that speed, the surf pipe will be out of the water though, so it will be louder than surf speed, etc.

I believe it is the new DI motors. They are loud. Didn't you hear this on your demo?

Only a supercharged 550 before we got ours and was at FULL SALUTE in my pants the whole time with stereo cranked so I wasn't exactly nit picking the engine noise. Not like it would have changed our buying decision anyway.

FWIW My buddies Malibu 23LSV with the 8.whatever is super loud. Sounds like a jet engine under load.

Just an observation and looking for others experiences. I guess you find the same thing, thanks.

My understanding is the DI motors are louder. Both in cars and boats. I attributed it to that. Definitely louder than my Bu with the LS3 and my X-30 with the 7.4 Liter Ilmor

I think the new h6 is the quietest boat setup I've ever been in. Mine is far quieter then any other wake boat I've ever been around or in.
