My folks live on the lake and I would like to add an addition to there floating dock to park our natique. What experiences does anywone have with lifts, any recomendations? What about with a floating dock and a lift.

floating docks and lifts work fine together. The only difficulty can be cranking up the lift when you are on a floating dock and moving. If you have a motor, there is no problem. The cantilever lifts are easier to service and work better in shallower water (Hewitt is what I like) and the Vertical lifts are a pain to service but I think they take less time to crank up overall.
I built my own floating dock with parts from dockhardware.com. We used pressure treated 2 x 6's for the frame and choicedek (Lowe's) for the decking. Also a couple of years ago, I researched cantilever lifts and found a company in NY that makes a real nice product. rgcproducts.com
