Very interesting article indeed and good on them! It doesn't sound like the selling of these products in any way infringes on SeaDek but the fact that some of them were using their advertising materials - pictures and descriptions. Personally, I like the fact that faux teak product can be obtained in sheets since SeaDek won't sell it that way...

Hi, Ive just signed up to the forum and Im in the UK, I see this is an older thread but Im also looking at useing a "Seadeck" type material, Ive seen the cheap EVA sheets on ebay and Ive asked for a sample but I get the impression that despite saying they are selling UK stock, its actually coming from China, and no samples so far! Mind you last year I asked a couple of British suppliers of the expensive synthetic teak if they could quote me supply only, and had no replies either and I wonder if the big money with these things is in the fitting, well at least in the UK? Anyway, I wonder if anyone has actually used the cheap chinese EVA foam teak and what are their thoughts about it?
      any replies most wellcomed,
      Steve.

I have seen this stuff on ebay but was weary about the quality. I think looking at this, I might go ahead and buy some and try it. I have access to a CNC and I think I can pretty much do any design I would like. I will post pics of how it turns out.

Wakegarage has some good DIY projects featured with different EVA foams.

Not trying to thread jack but I see there was an aquadeck group buy last year so I’m hoping some people who bought see this. I have received quotes from both aquadeck and gaterstep. Gatorstep is a couple hundred cheaper for essentially the same color/pattern. Does anyone have first hand knowledge with either that can way in on quality and durability?

Had a friend tell me to avoid the knockoffs but he doesn’t have first hand knowledge, only what he has read, so I take it with a bit of a grain of salt.

Centurion uses the gator step for OEM I’m pretty sure. I don’t think any of the OEM manufacturers use aqua deck.

I have several sheets of the China stuff and it is really nice stuff. I am going to start milling it next week and will upload pictures of the finished product. The trouble with SeaDek and any of the others is that it wears and for the cost it shouldn’t. But the solution is not to make a more durable product but rather make the cost within reason of being to be able to replace it easier.

i ordered some of the cheap EVA off amazon and have been cutting to do my top deck and a few random spots. it seems like it is going to do the job, and my only complaint is that it doesnt look "complete" because it doesnt have the additional outlined area around the pieces. I am sure it is going to get the job done for a while but we shall see.
