    Seadek damage

We have a 2016 Malibu 23 LSV. We have found over the past year of use that the "Seadek type" material used to line the floor is subject to getting cut by boards slicing into it. Pretty easy to do and very frustrating.

I know that the 2017 G23 we have coming has "real Seadek" material installed. I would love if it were more durable! Have you seen any issues with cuts in the Seadek on Gs?

I don't know that I would say it is easy to cut or damage the seadek but it definitely does happen. Fortunately there are places like scwake.com where you can get replacement and/or custom pieces at a reasonable price.

Ive found SeaDek to damage very easy. Watch what happens if you leave swim deck uncovered and a cat decides to use it as a scratch place!! I had to order the entire deck to repair it.

+1 for the cat scratching post. Its like a magnet for them. After the second time the cat went bye bye.

Was at the boat show this year and wanted to know the answer to your question myself. I gave it a good squeeze and a nice chunk popped out. Call me old fashion but I prefer the old snap out carpet.

I have a few small nicks on the swim platform...but that's it. You try to gouge it out and yeah you'll probably take out a chunk. I'd guess about 85% or so Nautique owners that have SeaDek would never go back to carpet....I know I wouldn't.

I'm never going back to carpet. I love SeaDek and no it's not perfect but pretty darn good. Every tow boat manufacturer that I can think of is using it or a variation of it.

I put it in my 2008 SANTE 230 and it was the best upgrade I've done by far. I do have a few nicks that bother me (after a year of use), but my plan is to replace those parts as necessary.

Count me in as a fan of good old carpet, have almost 12 seasons of use on my 206 and the floors all look and feel as good as new and have needed no repairs.
Dollar for Dollar what seadek costs I would opt for real wood (jatoba or teak), had that in a previous boat and it preformed as good as it looked

I Have always seen that on my buddys Malibu's/Axis that when you list the boat to surf that it destroys the Decking on the platform.

My Seadek has held up pretty well. But I only have 1 year on it. I did drop my skyski on it and gouge a chunk, but a happy price to pay for how awesome it is.

I do have some stains. I was going to start another thread, but I wonder if someone has any idea what the best way to clean it?

Thankfully.....we with "G" don't have to list to surf!!!

I find Seadek is fairly easily damaged. If, for example, you step on something hard with 90 degree edges that is on the Seadek, you will likely leave a permanent indent/cut (e.g. I stepped on one of the hitch/safety pins that hold the swim platform in place and it left a permanent mark or cut...I have a couple of other similar marks of unknown origin). I've also heard from multiple people that is is easily damaged by dragging or pressing down on fins/boards....I don't appear to have any of that type of damage.

It's irritating, but I prefer the overall look and feel of Seadek compared to carpet...and I like that it does not trap moisture.

Best I've found so far is a plastic bristled scrub brush warm water and laundry detergent and rinse w pressure washer.
