    Finally, a new trailer

Well after almost two years of complaining about my junky Shoreland'r trailer that came under my 97 SNOB, I finally ordered a new trailer today. I asked peoples opinions on the Ramlins and Eagles in an earlier post, and got a mostly positive response, but the one that caught my eye was by KRS0394, raving about his Trailmaster.

Trailmasters are made locally (for me) in Northern Indiana. After looking at many of them, and researching the other brands, it seemed like a pretty good deal. They seem very well made, VERY comparable to the Eagles, and a lot less expensive. Plus, now I can make the trip to Cedar Point this year (hopefully) and Green Lake in July without worrying if the trailer is going to fall apart on the way there.

Here's what I ended up with:

    Tandem Axle
    4 bunks
    Disc Brakes
    Swing away tongue
    LED lights
    Crash pads
    Chrome Wheels
    Matching Spare tire/mount
    Prop guard
    Dove tail
    Guide posts
    Diamond Plating
Custom matched Green paint to match my primary stripe
Pin stripe to match the off white hull (boat is a Masters Edition)
    "Nautique" logos

And, they came to get the boat from the marina to custom fit the trailer to it.

Out the door price? About $2800.00 plus tax. And it will be done and delivered (with the boat on it) in one week. I don't think it gets too much better than that. I'll post some pics when it comes in!

      rleinen79,

Do you have the contact info for Trailmaster? I am also located in Northern Indiana and am looking for a trailer for my '97 Super Sport and would be interested in the Trailmasters. That price you got is way cheaper than any sinle axle I had been quoted on by other manufacturer's. Thanks for the help!

I got mine from Star Board Choice Marine (stbcm.com) in Mishawaka. They were great to work with, and really lowballed the price for me. Hopefully, it will be as good as it looks and seems on paper. Like I said, I should have it in about a week, and I'll post pics then.

Where in Northern Indiana are you located?

I live in Columbia City, which is right in between Warsaw and Fort Wayne. I actually went to school in Mishawaka for two years (Bethel College), so I'm kind of familiar with your area. Thanks for the info!

I had a new Trailmaster built last fall for my 79 Tique. It came out great and the price was pretty comparable to other quotes I got. It rides nice, looks good and the boat goes on and off very easily. Very satisfied. Would highly recommend.

Has anyone ever looked at a Zieman trailer ? I got one with my 99 SAN last year. Trailer is a 2005, tandem, disk brakes, swing tongue, the bow stop drops down, 4 bunks, nice rims..... This is the first non CC trailer I have had on all my previous boats. I love it.

What's a Dovetail on a trailer? Never heard that term before.

It's a plate underneath the prop to protect it against scraping on a steep ramp or drive, etc.

What's the difference between a "dovetail" and prop guard then?

My understanding is that the prop guard is the framing, or cage, that goes around the bottom of the trailer, and then the dove tail rests in front of the cage. It's just a big plate under the prop, in addition to the framing.

Here is a pic of the junky shreland'r. If you click on the top pic and look close, you can see the dove tail under the prop. I thought that was different from the prop guard, but I could be mistaken. Possibly Trailmaster just lists them seperately.

Kind of like a skid plate right? I think I get it, just figured it'd be considered part of the prop guard.

Did you get the box or channel frame? I'm pondering replacing my trailer so post some pics when you get the new one. Congrats

I went with the channel frame. It was about $300 cheaper, but more than that, I don't like the idea of not being able to access the wires if something needs repaired. The boxes are definitely better looking, but in this case I preferred the ease of the channel frame.
