Pebble watch for 2017

I understand for the 2016 G23, there were certain models of the Pebble watch that are compatible with the boat and others that weren't. Does anyone have knowledge of the 2017 model year G23 and which Pebble watches are compatible? It looks like there are Pebble Time and Pebble Steel models for sale on Amazon. The Pebble Time seems to have a little higher rated reviews, so I'm curious if it's compatible. Thanks!

I read somewhere that the 2017 was compatible with all pebble watches.

The pebble steel works fine with the 2016. Just can't update the version of the pebble app. Doesn't bother us since the watch just stays in the boat.

If you are able to wait a couple of weeks until we're back at the lake, I ordered a Pebble 2 and will try it on our 2017 G23 and report back.

Tried the Pebble 2 today with the 2017 G23 and unfortunately was not able to get it to sync using the Bluetooth connection. The Pebble Time works fine.

Thanks for the confirmation! I also confirmed with the factory. Very unfortunate that we have to use old watch technology to make it work. I guess just buy the Pebble Time for the boat only, then have another smart watch for everyday use that makes sense for the year 2016...

So what is the definitive best Pebble Watch to get? I see the Pebble Time is compatible, looks cool... The Classic Pebble has the black and white screen, but maybe easier to see in direct sunlight?
