The boat hit a rock which pushed the strut up. Repaired by a reputable shop and no noticeable issue performance or looks-wise. Repairs made to glass, new strut, shaft, rudder, etc. Would you stay away or consider if the price is right?

Spin the prop/shaft by hand, does it spin easily? Firmly move shaft feeling for any lateral movement, inspect wetted surface gel around rudder and strut area for quality of repair, inspect bilge area around strut, rudder & shaft area for quality of repair, on test drive view same area for any leaks. If you buy it I would definitely check the alignment and adjust if necessary once I got it home.

Here's my 2 cents..... If there were two exact boats and one had been wrecked and the other not which one would you buy? Is the savings amount enough to off set the diminished value?? I would expect the wrecked boat to be a really good buy if I were buying it because the history is likely to stick with the boat. For example how is it going to be an issue reselling when the time comes. If it's a smokin deal, repaired correct and your not concerned about selling it.... heck yeah!! Use it and have fun at a discount price!

I had a major repair done to my 04 SAN after hitting a rock. Shaft, strut, rudder, prop and extensive fiberglass repair. The total bill was around 12K. I ran the boat for 7 years after and there was no performance issues or maintenance issues whatsoever. You could never tell anything had ever been hit even with close inspection.
If the boat is what you want at the price you want to spend I don't think it should have much bearing on your decision (assuming it was a quality repair).
