    Season cut short

Well it looks like my season was cut short again this year. Last year I dislocated my knee on Memorial Day pretty much ruining my summer. Worked hard to gain my strength back over winter and actually got to board quite a bit this year. However, on Labor Day weekend...I did it again. Surgery was inevitable this time. Torn ACL which required a graft, lots of other cartilage damage and a torn meniscus which he also fixed, and a stretched MCL and ruptured joint capsule. No fun here. Looks like I'll be missing snowboarding season this year too. Just this past week we were still seeing temps up into the 90s. It stinks knowing you have a brand new G23 sitting out back and 2 new wake boards begging to be ridden but are unable to use any of them!! Here's to a winter full of rehab to which hopefully I will be better than ever and ready to ride next year!!

Dude, that sucks! Did you blow the acl wake boarding? At least seeing that pretty boat with the new boards is motivation to keep at rehab! Good luck man.

Man that sucks! Good luck and power to you rehabbing it. I've never seriously injured myself wakeboarding until this year what I would consider a hyperextension. Maybe I don't go big enough and I'm getting older, but I can only barely feel your pain there. I had to rest, ice, and exercise it. Nothing like surgery and rehab. Wishing you a speedy recovery! PS - will you or do you rock a brace on that knee of the other now?

That is brutal. Sorry to hear. My #1 activity is downhill mountain biking so I can share some empathy when it comes to being sidelined due to injury. Happens all too often. Best of luck with recovery and I'm sure those that normally ride with you would cover the costs and give you lots of praise if you continue to take them out in your G while you're on the mend...lol.

Hate it for you. Been in your shoes a few years back and there is light at the end of the tunnel but it can be hard to see. Rehab rehab rehab, if the doc says 30 minutes do it for 90. Someone told me that I should quit skiing, just used that as motivation to get back out there and do it quicker.

Thanks all! Yeah I'm going to rehab the heck outta this! And yes...I will be rocking my custom CTI knee brace from here on out! They are amazing knee braces. I was actually wearing it when this happened this go around, only this time I twisted my leg inside of the brace. Excruciating pain! And while I'm sure I will surf more now since I do have the worlds best wakesurf boat (wink wink!!), I am still a diehard wakeboarder. So I will do it until they can't fix my knee anymore! I mean if the pros can do, I can too...right?! Pain hurts, but only for a minute...the feeling of freedom while in the air between wakes though, is irreplaceable!

First image is of all the torn cartilage that was in the back of the knee that he cleaned out. 2nd image is of where there was supposed to be an ACL. The 3rd and 4th are of the newly grafted ACL in place. Graphic I know...but interesting.

It took me two ACLs and a torn pec muscle before I gave up wakeboarding. I get the whole feeling so great in the air part, but I gotta make a living too and I don't want to be hobbled when I'm a grandpa.

I started wake skating . Because my feet weren't latched to the board the falls no longer hurt near as bad . Might look into that . Sorry about your injury

Wake skating is how Shaun Murray tore his ACL.

Yeah. My knee has been pretty rough for a while now. Just completely worn down. Last years dislocation really started my probs. The doc said that if I rehab this right, then I will technically feel like I'm operating at 110% considering it's been so bad for so long!

Sucks man, I hope you recover to 100 percent. My advice when you start riding again is stay out of the flats and focus on landing on the soft wake and it will save your other knee.
