I thought a torn pec was a very rare injury for water sports. It happened to me and now I know of a few others. I needed surgery 2 years ago for that.

Good Luck on a quick recovery, Beg4Wake! Be cautious about overworking it early on. Make sure your doctor knows if you plan on doing extra. You can cause problems with that cartilage that is not healed by overdoing it.

Yep. I hadn't heard of a torn pec either. I held on to a backroll too long that I landed a little toe-side heavy on. Instant face plant that I didn't let go of in time and I heard the ugly snap/pop like I did with both ACL injuries. I couldn't understand why I couldn't even bench press my hand that night either. Pretty funny. Super weird. No muscle connection any more. Strangely, not much pain. Just had what looked like a huge (DDD) boob in my chest area. Mine tore right at the humerus so my pec contracted to my sternum. They had to cut my shoulder open, drill holes into my humerus, pull the pec tendons through and reattach them. I have a friend who tore his doing the same thing, but his tore in the middle of the muscle. Can't fix that kind of tear (it would be like trying to sew two brooms together) and now he has a lopsided chest.

Ah yes... The pain we're willing to go through for the sake of fun right?

As for tallredrider's advice, take it. He's right. There's no pride in being a hero when you miss another season due to not listening to the advice of your doc. There's also a TON of research you can do online for ACL recovery. You've probably already read most of it.

I had the CTI ofs when I tore my ACL I now have the donjoy custom and it is way more comfortable and gives better support and does not migrate down. It also has an acl guarantee 25k towards surgery

Good call! I'll def do that. Try to focus on just keeping things technical and wake to wake than just going big.
