    Season GPH Average

Well today was our last day on the water. TVA drops the lake so low I can't keep it on my boat lift so she'll go in to storage until April unless we get a nice warm weekend.

697 gallons for fuel purchased over 81 hours of use this year. That equates to 8.61 GPH which is not too bad for a 2015 G23 550. We surf 99% of the time and never go faster than 25 MPH when riding around. We live at 690' above sea level.

I'd be curious if others track their usage and what your your seeing.

My Mc X23 with a 6.2 OPS Ilmor consumption was 406 gallons over 81 hours which is 5 GPH 90% surfing and the rest was wake boarding with very little ballast.

I think it's interesting that we're getting some decent fuel economy on a tow boat. Super unleaded is $2.99/gallon around here so basically I can entertain the family and friends anytime for $26/hr. That's way less than the movies, decent dinner or a concert.

I have no doubt that if we were wakeboarding primarily I'd be sharing a different story.

What's everybody else seeing as their season average?

JoeA, you have inspired me to keep track of this next season... in terms of the entertainment rate, i would have to agree, i think your per hour rate might be less than my wife's per starbucks drink cost.

I like your summer fuel burn calculation, I'll do the same next summer.

As a side note, if you factor in the boat purchase in your hourly cost for entertainment, dinner and a movie would look dirt cheap.
(A 2 week family vacation to Australia would look cheap).

SHHHHH!!!!!! We all know that! Keep it on the down low, bro!.... Honestly, I could take my family of 6 to Hawaii for 10 days in high fashion for what our boating costs in total for the year. Still doesn't replace the memories of weekly fun and good times (not to mention the regular break from day to day life). Vacation memories are only for a week or so and fade unlike those times when so-and-so did such-and-such behind the boat.......... Those memories last a lifetime. You can't go on vacation every week, but you sure can go on the boat every week. Just my .02

Almost forgot, JoeA, this is a great thread. I wish you would have posted it in February. I hope you see to it that it gets brought up again next year before the season starts so we can all pay attention and check ourselves, no matter which model we own.

I've always kept track of fuel consumption. 15 liters or 4 gallons per hour for my old '85 2001. Wakeboarding only.
Just got a '97 Super Sport, haven't used it enough yet to get a good idea.

I simply track this for budgeting purposes only but it was interesting to see what we used for the season and calculate the GPH and cost per hour. I love the sport and agree that the memories on the water will last a long time.
