    GS20 vs G21 : better surf wave?

At first I'd assume the g21's wave to be superior, but I saw a thread below that said the GS20 had a BETTER wave than the G21? Is that even possible?

I'm in the market and could save about $20k going with the GS20 over the G21.... I'm not going to wakeboard or ski, just surf and pull tubes for family fun. Thoughts?

    Thanks!

Never surfed the GS20 but love my G21 wave as does everyone who rides it. The push is incredible (full in the back and NOTHING up front)

I think it was just one person who claimed he liked the GS20 better. I don't see how that's even possible. The 21 is bigger and heavier with more ballast. Some people just see what they want to see.

Just went to my dealer and they have a demo gs20, and they confirmed that yes as assumed, the g21 wave is better. Especially with only the rear tanks full as talked about on the forum. So the gs20 is no longer an option for me. Thanks!

The G21 is going to have a better wave but by no means is the Gs20 wave small. I was extremely impressed surfing behind the Gs20

uhhh, you did not say if you rode behind either boat...but you rule gs20 out because it is not the better of the two...do you know how good you need? or just want the better surf wake of those 2 boats?

if you are not going to wakeboard, and just surf and pull tubes, and you are married to nautique then gs20 is probably going to overall provide better handling, then the g series. but others can share their thoughts...

i don't even care but thought it was so weird that you were like i heard i could save $20k, and get the best...what i can't? ok, i will spend $20k more...recreational boating is pretty much moving to surfing, so if gs20 was a better surfing boat then a g boat it would have a higher price tag...

p.s. there are boats that surf a lot better then any nautique...just sayin', and you can tube with them too.

I'm surprised to hear anyone say that. I've surfed behind 11-12 boats (6 different boats at the polar bear event side by side) and I love my 230 the most of any that I've been behind. Which ones do you like better? Don't bother mentioning any listed boats.

clearly i have not surfed as many as you, but i surfed a friends 230 and a friends axis a22 and the a22 was incredibly long with a huge amount of push...the a22 was better.

Sounds like your friend needs to figure out how to dial in his 230. I surfed a 2015 Axis T23 with 6200 lbs of ballast and 8 people which is supposed to be one of Axis' best surf boats. Biggest surf wake I've ever surfed or seen, but the shape was garbage. More like a big roller rather than a wave. Really easy to fall out the back despite it's size. That wave style is typical of most Axis and Malibu surf wakes. Pics of that surf wake should still be online at wake9.com. Look for polar bear 2014. Black boat with pink accents. I'm in a lot of those pics with my Nautiques sweatshirt on. Gotta represent! ;-)

MarkJ, do you think a properly setup 230 has a better surf wave than a dialed in and setup G21/23/25?

I've only surfed the G21 and G25 and the 230 edges out both IMO. Sure would love to try a G23 though. The 21 had full stock ballast plus 200 lbs in lead and 8 people. The 25 was full stock plus about 10 people.
